Two in a row

No treadmill today - I took a walk with Tucker for 20 minutes instead!

Another nice day in the 50 degree zone ... they say it will not last, so I am enjoying it while I can.

Went to see the chiropractor today ... got cracked in several places; hopefully everything stays put. I cannot wait see Dr. Truong about my plantar faciitis next week - it is hurting something fierce.

Venison stew for dinner tonight!

11/5/1996

In the fall of 1996, I took a creative writing course that was taught by a lady named Melody Ziff. Mel was a friend and one outrageous lady. In her opening statement to the class she mentioned that yes, she knew that looked like a Disney witch. Mel and I both had long, vampy nails at the time and wore the same shades of purple. Incidentally, it was Mel who introduced me to MDRF.

One of our assignments was to write poetry about a classmate. By some quirk of fate, I was the one who was most written about. In going through some papers today, I came across one of the poems...

The Partner by Rodney Buxton

The Renaissance Festival
Fingernails
Her fingernails slide through the strands of her hair.
The court jester dances by as ... perfectly matching soft lilac flowers.
How often do you have to paint them?
Whenever I feel like it.

Autumn's breath cool, biting, stings her cheek
Her hand reaches up, fingernails glistening dew drop cold
To touch a kiss an ancient lover left.

A jester dances by, singing songs of by-and-by.
Her hand reaches up lilac stars slide through strands of hair.
The kiss is gone, she contemplates the ancient lover in the air.

Her mood changes and so reflects her nails
It goes on-an-on never changing
A kiss, a vanished feeling, that was never really there.
