SUN
SAGITTARIUS, 4°31'13"
NINTH HOUSE
The sun determines your ego, identity, and "role" in life. It's the core of who you are, and is the sign you're most likely to already know. Your Sun is in Sagittarius, meaning you are fundamentally curious, restless, and independent. You have strong, thought-through ideas about meaning and what's right or wrong. Interested in pushing the boundaries of the existent, you live to be free, and to learn. It's in your ninth house, meaning you feel the need to distinguish yourself from others through philosophy, faith, education, and politics.
ASCENDANT
PISCES, 7°27'25"
FIRST HOUSE
Your ascendant is the "mask" you present to people. It can be seen in your personal style and how you come off to people when you first meet. Some say it becomes less relevant as you get older. It changes every two hours, so if it doesn't make sense, text your mom to confirm your birth time. Your Ascendant is in Pisces, meaning you come across as kind, dreamy, imaginative, and sensitive. Most of your actions seem subtle and non-aggressive, and you may sometimes come off as indecisive.
MOON
VIRGO, 10°0'3"
SEVENTH HOUSE
The moon rules your emotions, moods, and feelings. This is likely the sign you most think of yourself as, since it reflects your personality when you're alone or deeply comfortable. Your Moon is in Virgo, meaning your emotional self is analytical, responsible, and pacifying. A bundle of nerves, you struggle with a need to be pure that may come out in self-sacrificing or nitpicky tendencies. It's in your seventh house, meaning you find security and safety through close relationships and long-term partnerships.
MERCURY
SAGITTARIUS, 25°28'56"
TENTH HOUSE
Mercury determines how you communicate, talk, think, and process information. It also indicates how you learn. It is the mind's planet. Your Mercury is in Sagittarius, meaning your intellect is expansive, boundary-pushing, and independent. Through your sincere and irreverent curiosity about everything, you have a critical opinion of most things. A big picture thinker, you find yourself unconcerned with details. You tend to be fairly sarcastic and make other people feel uncertain. It's in your tenth house, meaning you are curious about and inclined to analyze your responsibilities and what you need to accomplish in the world.
VENUS
SCORPIO, 2°4'22"
EIGHTH HOUSE
Venus determines how and what you love. It indicates how you express affection and the qualities you're attracted to. Your Venus is in Scorpio, meaning your romantic side is mysterious, passionate, and seductive. The intense depths of your devotion make for a mad and boundless love, though they may sometimes mutate into suspicion, jealousy, and cruelty, making your love life somewhat tumultuous. It's in your eighth house, meaning that for you, love is often expressed in darkness, taboos, rebirth, sex, and transformation.
MARS
VIRGO, 10°16'31"
SEVENTH HOUSE
Mars is the planet of aggression. It determines how you assert yourself, take action, and the energy that surrounds you—particularly in your sex life, your ambitiousness, and when you're angry. Your Mars is in Virgo, meaning you assert yourself in a way that is precise, and you push things forward with diligence, intention, and hard work. You're rarely willing to go out on a limb — your tendency to be intentional and analytical means you need to know that the situation is right before you act. It's in your seventh house, meaning you put a lot of energy into close relationships and long-term partnerships.
JUPITER
TAURUS, 19°16'24"
THIRD HOUSE
One of the two social planets, Jupiter rules idealism, optimism, and expansion. It's also very philosophical. Your Jupiter is in Taurus, meaning you grow and find understanding through stability, security, and careful thought. It's in your third house, meaning you find success through the things you know and are familiar with.
SATURN
AQUARIUS, 28°53'0"
TWELFTH HOUSE
The other social planet, Saturn rules responsibility, restrictions, limits, boundaries, fears, and self-discipline. Your Saturn is in Aquarius, meaning you struggle with obstinacy, a superiority complex, and being overly detached. It's in your twelfth house, meaning you have had difficulties with privacy, secrets, and introspection.
URANUS
VIRGO, 14°35'41"
SEVENTH HOUSE
Uranus stays in each sign for seven years, meaning it rules a generation more than a person. It rules innovation, rebellion, and progress. Your Uranus is in Virgo, meaning other generations are shocked by your generation's diligence, analytical nature, perfectionism, and criticism. It's in your seventh house, meaning that for you, this manifests in rebelling against dated expectations about close relationships and long-term partnerships.
NEPTUNE
SCORPIO, 18°11'50"
NINTH HOUSE
Neptune stays in each sign for around fourteen years, meaning it rules a generation more than a person. It rules dreams, imagination, and the unconscious. Your Neptune is in Scorpio, meaning your entire generation finds inspiration through passion, intensity, and darkness. It's in your ninth house, meaning that for you, this manifests in your ideal—verging on unrealistic and impractical—about philosophy, faith, education, and politics.
PLUTO
VIRGO, 16°12'20"
SEVENTH HOUSE
Pluto stays in each sign for up to thirty years, meaning it rules a generation more than a person. It rules power, intensity, obsession, and control. Your Pluto is in Virgo, meaning your generation's psyche is comparatively critical, perfectionist, methodical, intentional, and organized. It's in your seventh house, meaning you personally are transforming outdated forms of close relationships and long-term partnerships.

The forest has changed its clothes.
Infinite shades of green have been replaced
by a palette of gray and brown.

The woods, once vibrant and full of life,
are now stark and silent.
Naked trees taunted by dust devils of their former leaves.

How awesome is that!?

You can make a difference. Yes, YOU! It just takes a little effort.

I've stopped using drinking straws unless what I am drinking really needs one. This has been a 'thing' for quite some time now and I hadn't been really thinking about it any more. A friend's recent post about how plastic litter drinking straws add up to got me thinking about what else I could do. Just not using straws is not enough. Many restaurants give you one whether you ask for one or not. If I can't just hand it back to the server/refuse it, I put the straws in a 'safe' place on the table, but that's it. Time for me to up my game.

Fast forward to Gregory and I trying a new place to eat last week called Metro Diner. I was given a straw and set it in a place where it wouldn't get wet/dirty. (I also tried to order seltzer/soda water but they didn't have that.) But I kept thinking about that straw and hoping that it just wouldn't end up in the trash unused.

When we got home, I decided to write Metro Diner and explain why giving out straws without them being requested is not good for the environment (and quite frankly, saves them money, although I didn't mention that in my letter). I also asked if they would consider adding a soda water button to their soda taps.

The reply came within 14 hours!

"Thank you for contacting us and we are glad to hear about your experiences with Metro Diner! We are actually working on getting a soda water tab installed to our drink machine and are currently just waiting on Coke to come out and get it done so look for that soon. I really like your idea with the straws and will actually be teaching and coaching my team to do just that. We always welcome ideas from our guests and we thank you for your input. Have a wonderful day!"

And today, I received another email from someone else in their organization...

"Thank you for your feedback from your Metro Diner experience. We will be adding soda water to all the Virginia locations! Thank you so much for reaching out.
Have a great day!"

For what it's worth, it has taken me longer to write this post than it did for me to contact Metro Diner about straws and seltzer.

1. Give yourself permission to be yourself. Give up trying to be the person you always thought you should be and let yourself be who you are.

2. Set up your environment to reward rather deflate.

3. Acknowledge and anticipate the collapse of X% of projects undertaken, relationships entered into, obligations incurred. This is normal and not a reflection on you.

4. Embrace the challenges you face. As long as you know that they won't all pan out and as long as you don't go too crazy over it, you will get a lot done and stay out of trouble.

5. Break large tasks into small ones. Attach deadlines to the small parts. Then, like magic, the large task is done.

6. Accept fear of things going well. Accept edginess when things are too easy, when there's no conflict.

7. Do what you are good at. Again, it's okay if it seems easy. There's no rule stating that you can only do what you are bad at!

8. Read with a pen in hand - not only for marginal notes and underlining but for those inevitable thoughts that come.

10. Re-charge your batteries. "Waste" some time on a daily basis. Nap, watch TV, meditate - whatever works. It's good for you!

11. Let successful moments linger - they will become sustaining over time if you allow them.

Yoohoo! Motivation! Where are you?

Daecabhir can't find his Bluetooth headset and I can't find my motivation.

In other news, I am going through my journal and purging the tag 'Brian' and using 'the ex' instead. Cathartic!

Well, I'm here. Apparently the place I have called 'home' for my journal is no longer safe for me and so I will be migrating to this new place.

Hi new place.

Dishonesty, disloyalty, cruelty and hate speech of any kind is usually enough to anger a Sagittarius, and when a Sag gets angry they take no prisoners. When you piss one off, you know it, and you better walk away. Fast. Though, they do tend to have a lot of patience with most people so you probably won’t see them get angry very often.

The first sign of irritation before anger arises is most likely to be overwhelming sarcasm.

If a Sagittarius is getting angry, their conversation is probably just dripping with it. Most Sag’s try to keep their anger under wraps because losing their cool can make them feel quite embarrassed after they’ve calmed down. The most important thing to watch out for, is that they don’t create drama out of boredom.

Sag’s like problem solving and working out issues, so they can occasionally create problems at home or work without consciously intending to.

There are those days--
When you feel as unsure as ever,
When you almost resign yourself to regret as the only option.

And then you perk up, and steady yourself in the knowledge:
You will be okay.
And, it is time.

Don't ever doubt the power of your words.

Had to run out this evening to pick up a few last minute things that we need in our holiday preparation. After debating the available options, I decided to run to the small Walmart in Locust Grove. One of the items on my list was a half gallon of organic milk which the dairy case was completely out. After waiting for an employee to help me, I thanked him for going to look for it and when he came out the milk I told him how much I appreciated his finding it for me. His face broke into a huge grin and he hugged me.

All I said was thank you.

There is a spider called the brown recluse. It has a red spot on on its back and if it bites you, you will get as big as maw-maw.

As [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir says, "the customer is always right when their wallet is open."

Friend of customer upon seeing the teabag caddies...
Q. What's that for?
Me: For when you have tea.
Q. How do you put tea in there?

Did you spin all of this yourself?
