Olive Ruth Leona Boner Murter, age 82, died on Monday, August 15, 2005
Following a feeling I've had for some time now, I did some research online to confirm this news. Ruth, as I knew her, was Jim's mother & a source of strength for me when I needed to talk with someone who suffered the lost of Jim in a way no one could comprehend.
Jim had her eyes, something that I noticed immediately when she & I met at Jim's grave site a year after he died. Despite her grief, the brightness in her eyes was the same as Jim's. It was so remarkable. She told me then that she (& Jim) had Indian blood in their ancestry; in return, I told her the story of the bear that Jim had seen killed on the side of the road & how fascinated he was with it.
Thank you, Ruth. You made me feel that my feelings mattered. Your stories of Jim helped fill some gaps for me. You believed me when I told you things you believed impossible.
