We beat the BSOD ... for now
After reading up on tons of geek hints to beat the BSOD, we hit on a solution that we could understand & actually try. We removed the hard drive from my PC, installed it as a slave on one of the ex's computers & booted up. Windows fixed a few files on my hard drive & we were able to transfer all my files to the ex's hard drive.
Feeling plucky, we reinstalled the sick hard drive back in my PC & booted it up & it worked! I made a second back up of my stuff just for safety's sake. I'll probably keep using it until it blows up again, but will be very careful about the data on it.
While the ex was working on the computers, I brought the male puppies in the house, one at a time. The little lemon guy is still a bit of a whiner, but he calms down after a fashion. He is pretty funny because he likes to groom us when he is being petted. After the little guy had some loving, I brought the big lemon male in. We let him loose in the office with Cooper & they both seemed to have fun. The ex keeps telling me what a good dog this lemon male is going to make. ::: eye roll :::
Work is nuts this week as I am getting ready for a local event called Culpeperfest which is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. As is getting a show booth ready in a week & a half is not stressful enough, the rules keep changing. On Friday, we found out that we only have an hour to set up. I agreed to this condition in order to keep our premium location. Yesterday I discovered that CFC has a tent that they use for this sort of thing. A tent? No one told me about a tent. Not only did I have to revamp the booth layout, but that will really make the hour set up a nightmare.
Just in case there as not enough going on, I am working with two cashiers from the store who, in the past, have been able to do whatever they want with the event because no one else has seemed to care. This time they have me involved & it has put one of the girls out of sorts. Sorry honey, get over it. Then there's the store manager whose most important concern about the event is where the beer truck is going to be in relation to our booth.
OY!

At one show, we were using a sort of pop up affair. Because time was of the essence (rain, not rush) the folks who knew how to set up the tent started setting it up right in front of our are while I finished unpacking biz stuff from the car and starting on the table layout. Save a bit of time. Of course, this won't always help, but I figured an anecdote couldn't hurt.
Another thing I have done is to make a basic layout sheet showing where things should be set up, and having copies ready to hand out to anyone you can get to help.
Good luck !

CFC Tent? All I can get is that it is either 10 x 10 or 10 x 12 & is crappy. Oh, it's yellow & white too. I do have at least 2 folks coming to help who have dealt with it before & they've already been told that it is their job.
