Tuesday mumblings

Since it was a nice afternoon, I took a walk with Tucker instead of hitting the treadmill. We walked out back on the neighbor's property. They have a long road that goes back to where I hunt sometimes & they have made lots of walking paths that meander though the property.

We had not gone far, when I saw a deer feeding at the edge of the road. Stopping, I watched Tucker to see what his reaction would be & braced myself for a tug on the leash. A second deer came out of the woods, with a third staying in the cover of the trees. Either Tucker didn't see them or he thought they were dogs or he just didn't care.

While Tucker moved around a bit on the leash, I stood frozen & the deer stayed put for a long while. The second deer knew something was up & stood broadside watching us before finally giving a warning & bounding back in the woods. The other two deer followed shortly behind. Tucker seemed oblivious!

I placed an order for a new crate for Tucker today since he is already outgrowing Cooper's crate. This way, Tucker will have a home that fits & Cooper can have his old one back.

Rawr

Took another walk with Tucker tonight out back. We "found" Cooper on our way, lost him again & found him on the way back to the house. At one point, we were near a small run of water & Tucker decided to take a drink. He kept lapping up a wet leaf every time he tried which he most certainly did not care for. It's seems rough to spit out a wet leaf from your tongue!

After hanging out by the little run for a while & behaving himself, when I started to gather him up to go, he decided to lunge at the water (or most likely the other side) & darn near jerked me right off my feet & into the water!

The ex's VTX is still in the shop. He's still intolerable. He's still not talking with me. He's also getting sick.

I spent my entire evening getting some items on ebay. Taking pictures, doing a bit of research for item descriptions then actually posting stuff. In all I posted a whooping NINE items with pictures of a few more things ready to go. Of course, all the crap together will probably not even make more than $20, but it sure beats throwing it away. What doesn't sell will most likely end up at GoodWill.

If I overheard the rumor mill correctly at work, there was a dinner tonight for a store manager who is retiring after 40 years. I really adore the guy & would love to have attended (if indeed what I thought I heard is true). The trouble? I wasn't invited. My hunch is that it's an oversight on my 'boss's' part. I am not accustomed to be a freaking oversight.

When I brought Tucker in from his last walk of the evening, I noticed that he had something in his mouth. Assuming it was an acorn (one of his favorite things to pick up), I told him to drop it & reach in his mouth to scoop out the 'acorn'.

Guess what? It wasn't an acorn.

It was a dried up dog turd.

GROSS!
