Week whatever of 2nd shift
February 6th, 2006 11:55 pmI think this is week 5 of my "sentence" as the second shift supervisor. It seems that the job's responsibilities keep growing, even though my tenure is quite temporary. In addition to dealing with paychecks, time clocks, exit interviews, & etc. I am also now some sort of intermediary between the president of the company & one of the girls on the shift regarding a few issues.
When I took the job over, the gal who was doing it pretty much told me that I would not being doing a thing & that everyone on the shift knows their job. Right. Silly me took her at her word. All of this means that I don't really have time to my own job, let alone develop the position that the VP has in mind for me, & I alternate between babysitting & doing things like reminding everyone that they have to punch out for lunch.
Ah well ... that's enough bellyaching from me!
We had a really nice weekend. Friday's weather was stellar & I got a few things done outside as well as housework while Brian was at work. Saturday was the last day of rabbit hunting for us & it poured down rain & was rather cold. I spent most of the time in the truck with the heat on. Cricket came with us again & she flushed a rabbit! I'm so proud of her! Brian pointed out that she didn't bark (like the beagles) but I said it didn't matter. I shot at the rabbit, but missed ... I'm a bit slow getting the gun up.
Saturday night found us with Brian's two nephews over. The 8 year old was sucked in by EverQuest all evening & the younger boy watched Batman Begins with us since he is addicted to the caped crusader. On Sunday we went to town for a Costco run with Brian's brother, sister-in-law & the three boys. I found a really nice black leather coat that Brian talked me into buying for myself. When we were done, we sent the three little boys with the two big boys to the cigar shop & us girls were going to go home ... except that we sort of stayed at the mall for a bit & enjoyed a little guy-free shopping time.
JC Penney has these marvelous mission style stained glass lamps that I fell in love with. Of course, they are priced way out of my league ... however, once we got home, I noticed that JC Penney has all their lamps on sale this week for 50% off, plus another 10% (but I have to read the fine print). Brian says that I should get them since I like them so much. I'd prefer he'd see them before I spend the money on them, but I just may swing by & get them this week.
