Headed into Culpeper today to meet up with Mom, retrieve the dogs and run some errands. The dogs both deserve gold stars for staying in Mom's van for much longer than planned and being good puppies. (Sadly, Tucker negated his gold star when we got got home by peeing on Duchess. /sigh)

Rumors of the Fashion Bug in Culpeper closing turned out to be true and they are having a huge clearance sale. Among the bargains I came home with are some tank tops for summer, a cami, and a little black dress for $15. They say every woman needs a little black dress. Now I finally have one. (Well, really I already have one with sparkles but that doesn't count.)

Another big score was hitting Belk's for my Clinique moisturizer. Mega bonus goodies with purchase (several of which I can actually use for a change).

The replacement window for the garage door is in place. The glass was particularly cranky and I pray that no one looks at the window up close.

Nothing to report on the job front. There does not seem to be much to even apply for now.

Gave my attorney the okay for the name change for the second time. It's been a rather frustrating process that has become a moot point but it is wise to play the legal game just in case.

Two days until [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir comes to country home. YAY!

Spent the morning finishing up my latest skirt project ([livejournal.com profile] daecabhir helped pick the fabric) I headed to Fredericksburg for several errands. After scoring some awesome bargains on some clothes, I hit JoAnns for a few needed items (and found fabric on sale for another skirt). Then it was off to BJs for supplies (ended up buying some things for both of the homes - LOL) and last, but not least, was Home Depot to order the replacement window for garage door.

The "stupidity tax" for my little mishap the other morning?

$40
(Much cheaper than a locksmith!)

While I was gone, I decided to give the dogs access to the living room so that they could lay by the wood stove if they wanted. Previously, I have kept the living room gated off to keep them off the furniture (even though they are not allowed on it). Seems they got into no trouble at all so I will be experimenting again soon.

No word on the missing payment from the ex. Once again it's in the hands of my attorney.

The end of another week.

We got another inch or so of snow today, most of it melted into the snow that was already here by the end of the day.

The big news of the day is that I did not do anything nearly as stupid as yesterday's lockout. Replacement window quote from Lowe's is $65 (cheaper than a locksmith call for certain) but it will take 3-4 weeks to get here. That said, I am scoping out other options so that I can get the door fixed and secure the garage.

As of this writing no payment has been posted from the ex. This is bloody annoying.

Speaking of bloody annoying, I finally got the mess with my two Verizon accounts sorted out If you are thinking of using their onebill service - don't do it!

Since I have been keeping a fire going in the wood stove, the dogs have decided that their new favorite spot is lying in front of it. Good for them!

Hard to believe that an unemployed marketing lady doesn't have time to make blog posts, but here I sit with little time to type because I am supposed to be packing so that I can head to Charm City once more.

And just in case you missed it the first time, the only charming thing about the city is [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress.

Anyhow, here's the whirlwind update you've been holding your breath for.

Potentially goods news on the job front - I have now passed the second phone interview phase with a magazine in need of an online marketing coordinator. The third phone interview will take place next week.

Tucker has an appointment with a veterinarian dentist on the 24th of this month for a consultation about his tooth. If things look good, they can do a root canal the same day. He's doing okay but he is a bit subdued lately. I hope he is not in too much pain.

I am still waiting on the "good news" to come to fruition that my attorney thought would happen a month ago. Patience is not my strong point and major ex-husband asshattery does not help.

This coming weekend will find me immersed in learning about Shambhala Buddhism. Although I don't plan on straying from my Pagan path, I'm eager to learn about [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir's spirituality so that as we grow together I can be more understanding. And I just might learn a thing or two. /wink

Sadly I have run out of brain cells for blogging tonight. With any luck though I will have time to post from the city home.

The City of Baltimore finally came out today and fixed the sewer issue. Not being able to do dishes or laundry or shower regularly all week has been a royal PITA. The City workers laughed when I told them that I was actually looking forward to doing laundry and dishes. One guy even offered to let me come home with him so I could his dishes.

Um .... NO.

What I have gotten done since they left is run the dishwasher and washer successfully (no flooding of the basement). The kitchen is clean and fajitas are cooking (they smell yummy). During the day today I worked on a special project involving the middle floor of the city home ... hopefully [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir will be pleased. He's on his way home now so I shouldn't have to wait too long to find out if I am on the naughty or nice list.

Tomorrow is a mostly take-it-easy day (we are SO sleeping in!) with just a few errands to run. Sunday may find us in Virginia (indeed, we were supposed to be there for the entire weekend at the country home) but Mother Nature is threatening snow.

No fruition as of yet with regards to the good news from attorney. Quite frankly, I would like for someone's asshattery to be over; I would like very much to close that chapter of my life.

No news on job stuffs which is downright discouraging. After [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I had chatted last night about the situation, I think I will start applying for part-time gigs that pay well.

The dogs and I are back in the country home. While we are safe and sound, we are also chilly because the temperature was 22 degrees the last time I checked the thermometer and it's still dropping.

[livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I had a very nice week plus during my stay at the city home. Things between us seem to happen quite effortlessly; especially in the kitchen where it is often difficult to work well with another person. He is truly a special man ... and not in the short bus way either!

Not much new on the job front save for a flush letter via email today. Brains cells aren't abundant enough to do any searching tonight, but I will be checking several places tomorrow to see if any new openings have been posted.

Sadly nothing has yet come of my attorney's good news. Hopefully things will happen before the end of the year.
pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Seems that winter is upon us - at least that is what the thermometer says. My week here at our city home has been a good one and the best part is that it's not over yet. I've been keeping busy with projects on all three floors. My request to [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir is that we limit our home to only one flight of stairs in the future.

So far my adventures in meatless cooking have not killed either one of us and although my francaise did not come out as intended it was still edible.

This reminds of an exchange between my sister and I when [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I first met that went something like this:
[livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress: "Do you think you can cook vegetarian?"
[livejournal.com profile] bikher: "I don't want to cook him, I just want to date him!"

Our lives, they are different from other peoples lives.
Thank Goddess!

No news on the job front although I found one job to apply for today.

Still waiting for the good news from my attorney to come to fruition.

Christmas will be here soon whether I am ready or not - and I am not ready. A few things have been ordered online, but I think this will prove to be a low key holiday. The most important thing being, of course, getting to be with family. This year that includes meeting [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir's family too.
pandasheart: (celt flame pony)
Spent the day puttering about the city home ... doing little projects here and there. As the evening draws close, I find myself wanting [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir to be home.

At least he told me the secret of waking up his Mac so I can bang on the keyboard. ::: smirk :::

Before I drove up to the city home yesterday, I got in a bit of puppy time with Shadow's litter. The little brindle girl is my favorite (go figure). She came up to me and ended up going to sleep under my chin. She wags her tail a lot too. Must resist the temptation.

Yesterday also brought good news from my attorney - please keep your fingers crossed!

pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
It's already Tuesday - [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I get to see each other again on Friday.

So no whining.

(That was a note to self by the way.)

Not much in the way of jobs to apply for today, although I will scan Craigslist again before the night is out. Seems that if I had a CDL, or some such skill I would be gainfully employed. Right now most folks need a manager or marketing person like a bull needs an udder.

Despite having a headache for about half the day, I did manage to get a few things done. The name change is now complete in several more places with more in the process. Got some good news from my attorney (fancy that!) The Endeavor got a bath, faire boots are clean and drying, did some weeding in front of the house and a few other various and sundry tasks completed.
pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Overslept by two hours this morning, then went in late and left the office early after getting the mission critical stuff done.

Another trip to JoAnn's was in order when I learned that the fabric to make our ren skirts is 50% off. Seems that by next faire season I will have a colorful wardrobe of skirts. LOL

Received the court papers that my attorney had gotten. They are not "originals" though and I am not sure if they will be sufficient for DMV and Social Security.
pandasheart: I am pony! Hear me roar! (rapidash)
Okay, it's becoming sort of humorous in a macabre way ... my boss has yet to speak to me about my resignation from production/operations and what (if any) plans she might have for me. Maybe she thinks that if she ignores me I will go away. Guess what. I will!

muhahahaha

My attorney emailed me to say that she was dropping the documents that she has into the mail to me and has submitted the name change order to the court so that they can correct it.

Enjoyed a half dozen figs from the tree tonight. If I am lucky there may some more ripe on Monday when I can check the tree again.

Only two more weekends of faire to go. While I will miss it greatly, I am looking forward to sleeping in, getting some things done around the house, and going hunting.

Turns out the girl with the beagle puppy needs to prove ownership of him because she has split from her beau and he is threatening to take her to court over the dog. Told her that I will gladly help her out. hehe
pandasheart: Panda's Heart (Default)
I was too tired by the time I got home to go grocery shopping, but I am wide awake at 10:30 pm when I should be sleeping. Go figure!

The boss was too busy to sit down with me and have a chat today but she says she trusts my replacement and I to sort things out in regards to the transition between he and I. Made some announcements of said transition to staff today. The production floor folks seemed to be much more concerned over it than the office staff. One of my operators told me he would miss me very much and that I was a nice boss (he added, you even learned our names). Once I depart ABR I will miss my guys on the floor much more than folks in the office.

Changed the rat cage tonight and found evidence of the mites that Mom had trouble with. UGH! After thoroughly scrubbing the tank and checking the rats over carefully, I scrubbed me.

When I dashing out this afternoon to grab a sandwich, I was stopped at a traffic light and some old guy hollers over to me, "Are you happy now?" It took me a second to realize that he had read the Endeavour's window! I shouted back "Yes, I am!" and got a thumb's up.

No sign of the court paperwork from my attorney yet. Of course, no word from Brian's lawyer about repayment.

Duchess has a new habit of sitting on top of Tucker. While I have typing away here, she straddles a lying down Tucker and then starts to hump! OY!
pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Was too tired to post last night when I got home from faire, so here I am.

After much debating, soul searching, comparing notes, etc. I decided to preemptively write my boss to resign from my current position with the company yesterday. Gambling on the fact that if I was gracious to her, she would return the favor. It worked. We've not talked face-to-face yet (that comes tomorrow) but I hope things stay on an even keel.

Once again, I am honored and grateful to have wonderful friends who care a great deal about me. Not to mention the bestest sister ever. The bestest Mom too.

The weather for faire this past weekend was marvelous. Good crowds on both days but the patrons were buying more on Sunday it seemed. [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress had a pretty good weekend overall. Hopefully the last two weekends will prove to be profitable for her.

The "just divorced" signage on the Endeavour's windows continue to provide amusement. More pictures, thumbs up, clapping and smiles were bestowed by various and sundry travelers. Last night on the way home (in the dark) someone driving by was taking flash pictures of my SUV as I drove by and on the way home this evening, a guy driving behind me was taking pictures of the Endeavour while he was driving. Not so safe! I wonder how many times my scroll has been posted to Facebook by now. hehe
pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Ready for a new job, that is! My boss, who isn't even in the same state, sent an email to the production team that made us collectively roll our eyes. In an attempt to appease her, I sent detailed notes of the team's meeting and then I completed the one action item that she told us she would do. I doubt it will help, but sheesh.

Just in case I was feeling good about actually getting some work done with her gone, somehow we managed to send about 4500 pieces of mail to the post office without it first going through the proper paperwork channels. This means that while we KNOW it is in the mail stream, we cannot prove it. Unless we can make it all better tomorrow, life is going to be a living hell at work for the foreseeable future.

On a much happier note, I have started changing my name in various places (the ones that will let me do it without the "official paperwork").

While out on a work errand during my lunch break I happened across a JoAnn's Fabric and popped in to see if they had the fabric that [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress makes our spiffy skirts with. They had it in a wonderful assortment of colors and it was hard to not buy yards and yards of the stuff. I limited myself to only two colors and [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress has threatened me with teaching me how to make my own skirts.

Four years ago today I rejoiced as I flew up in the sky with a man that I loved and we were married.

Four years later, I am once again rejoicing because my divorce to that man is final.

A call to the county clerk's office this morning revealed that the divorce decree was indeed signed on September 27 by the judge along with my name change request.

I guess that makes me a new woman two times over!

Mom and I had a wonderful dinner together and a glass of Lambic to celebrate. To sound like a sappy Hallmark card, I am so grateful for all the love and support from my family and friends. This past year has been so very trying for me and the I truly owe it to those who supported me.

On to drag things like work ... the boss was out sick for most of the day so I actually got some work done. Treated myself to lunch at Five Guys to celebrate the news. The most amazing thing is that I walked out of the office after an eight hour day. It felt so odd!

The rain has stopped and the wind has been blowing steady to help dry the ground.

While tomorrow is the first day of bow season, I have chosen to go to MDRF so that I can celebrate the good news with my sister and friends in Revel Grove.
pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Seems that Mother Nature is trying to make up for a hot, dry summer by giving us a whooping rain for a few days. Traffic snafu's, minor flooding and wet dogs have resulted.

Word from my attorney is that she thinks the judge has (or may have signed) the decree; sadly she is too busy in court to call. It would be poetic justice to get positive divorce news tomorrow since it would have been our fourth wedding anniversary.

Had the Endeavor in the shop today. Three hundred dollars later it has new rear brakes with freshly turned rotors, an oil change, two new license plate bulbs in the back and a VA inspection sticker good until next September.
pandasheart: (celt flame pony)
The Culpeper court site listed the divorce case status as "other" as opposed to yesterday when it was "active". There is also now a date (9/27/10) listed for the decree and the name change.

Maybe it's really done? Or maybe just in front of the judge? Or maybe just lost in the system?

There is seriously some bug-a-boo bad mojo thing at work. The new driver I hired yesterday? The one that started today? As of right now it doesn't look like we can get him on our insurance due to him racking up 4 tickets in less than 3 years. OY!

We're getting lots of much-needed rain during the week and the weather man is predicting a stunning weekend weather-wise.
pandasheart: Panda's Heart (pony welcome)
Another mostly okay day at work. The boss is back but she pretty much ignored me all day. Hired a new driver for the afternoon shift; he starts tomorrow. Since I begged the production team out of meetings for a few days, it seems that we are actually getting some work done - fancy that!

There was a very pretty sunset on the way home tonight.

No news on the divorce front but I did figure out how to track the case online.
pandasheart: Panda's Heart (Default)
Woke up and started to get ready for work but felt very tired and still had very little voice, so I decided to work from home. Slept for another 2 hours or so before getting up to start my day for real.

With the new mailbox in place, I was able to get my mail from the past week ... mostly junk (and nothing from the Culpeper Court about the divorce, darn it) but I did learn that my car insurance has gone up again. This time it's an increase of $50. A quickie comparison at Geico revealed a savings of $120 by going with the lizard. Liberty Mutual has been very good to me and they hold my home insurance as well. Much thought to follow!

Staying home from work allowed me to putter about the house a bit and get some little fiddly things done. This included playing with the iRobot Roomba that I acquired recently from the boss' husband. Hopefully I can figure the darned thing out so it actually saves me time. LOL

Staying home also allowed me some time for job hunting ... I put in for a few jobs here and there.

Met up with Allison, an EQ friend, for dinner. She and I had met recently at MDRF and she was passing through town today on her way home down south. Her 15-month old son is a charmer and he flirted with me the whole time that I was visiting with his mum.
pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
And in this case, the day before the day before the vacation!

Not sure why I feel guilty for getting to work late (traffic was HORRENDOUS) and then having to leave just before 4 pm after putting a 12 hour day, but I sort of do. Maybe it was the look in my boss's eyes when I told her (and then got another look when I mentioned that I could not stay later until 5 pm tomorrow).

The short day went basically okay; I just did not get enough done. The guy I thought would be able to cover for me during my vacation cannot do so now I am working with someone in a crash course of production management. He'll do fine but my gut tells me that every blip in production while I am away will be blamed on me somehow.

A job with less stress is needed for certain.

After getting cracked up by the chiropractor (that's why I left early), I stopped by Home Depot and bought a new mailbox to replace my smashed one. Unfortunately the new-in-the-box mailbox was smushed so another trip to Home Depot is in order. It also means that right now I have NO mailbox at all since I had already taken the old one down. Hopefully I can call in a stop for my mail for the week and kill two birds with one stone.

The divorce decree should have been filed at the Culpeper County Court today by the ex's lawyer. I've not heard either way if this happened but the thought of his lawyer actually keeping my attorney informed is an alien one.

The house is marginally clean and I am trying to pack some stuff for the beach. I suppose I should be doing that instead of typing away here...
