[livejournal.com profile] daecabhir, my pottery roadie, made mention of my studio being a clayground.

How perfect!

A few weeks ago this was the conversation at the country home...

Me: Sssssshit!
Mr. Panda: Is that the sound of tinking I'm about to hear?

[livejournal.com profile] daecabhir was in my sewing corner last night and went to my cutting table to bring me a pin cushion as I was at the machine taking pins out as I worked on a seam.

His comment: Why does everyone who sews have a tomato voodoo doll?

Daecabhir says that potter drama would be called, 'As the wheel turns.'

The last weekend of VARF is always bittersweet. We're tired and long to have a weekend to ourselves but it'll be a year before we see some of our friends again. This year's faire was my best sales-wise to date although my studio is far from earning its own keep (especially when you figure in mileage). I'm forever grateful to [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir for his support of me and the studio in this endeavor.

Enough with the blather, let's get to the funny things that came out of people's mouths this weekend!

  • A male patron walking barefoot past the booth on the gravel path responded to his friends when they said he was nuts for going sans shoes ... "It's random reflexology!"

  • A lady who came into the shop who declined my offer of picking up pottery ... "I put the Q in klutz!"

  • When discussing yarn bowls with two patrons, when they learned that i was a loom knitter, one of them exclaimed, "So you're an authentic knitter!"

  • Our neighbor across the way at VARF has dubbed us, Mr. and Mrs. Pottery. When she comes to visit us, she tells her husband that she is going to visit the Potteries.

  • Our friend [livejournal.com profile] dansr has dubbed [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir the Ninja Sex Panda.

  • Soundbite of the day: "Give her a southern injection."

  • We delivered a custom mug lid (and her mug) to [livejournal.com profile] dansr from [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress. Upon seeing her spiffy new mug, [livejournal.com profile] dansr's reaction? There was squealing and snorting. Dead squirrels fell from the trees. And to quote the brownie, I love her so much that my uterus is swelling and I want to have her leather babies.

My faire weekends were filled with friends, roses, laughs, The Rogues, pottery finding new homes, and the love of my life.

During a recent discussion about color choices, [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir coined the phrase 'Pandatone' ... you know, for all the Panda colors.

Amid some stresses, [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir asked me for a moment this morning ... he played Bad Things by Jace Everett so we could dance in the office.

Of course, the dogs think we have lost our marbles.

He's gone but the smell of him still lingers in my nose.
He's gone but the memory of his kiss lingers on my lips.
He's gone but his strong hug still fills me with warmth.
He's gone but that sexy smile of his still dances in my mind's eye.
He's gone but not really because he lives in my heart.

My sister introduced us.

He was dashing, wearing a cavalier hat (complete with plumage); with a warm smile that spoke volumes and a booming laugh that was music to my ears.

I was newly-divorced and while I knew it was time to start dating, I wasn’t so sure about my prospects at 40-something.

A shared dinner with friends and a serious conversation about the taste of shiny. Talking long into the night – again. And again.

Four days later – we said I love you. Waiting only because neither of us could believe our good fortune.

Thank you so much, sister!

My neck feels naked.

[livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I took off the chain maille that has been around my neck for several years now because I am having an MRI tomorrow. The chain lost a few links at the join and is needing repair. We'll see the Maille Man this weekend and hand it off so that he can make it whole again.

Yup. I've not journaled in a while but I am going to make an effort to get back in the swing of things.

This pass weekend was opening weekend of MDRF and things were a bit weird at first, but nice weather and good energy on Sunday made a world of difference. Many friends made the effort to stop by Tessem Stoneware to visit [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I which was a treat - in fact some of them even brought us treats.

Since time is of the essence today (who am I kidding, it is every day), here's the quotable quotes from opening weekend:

  • I'm a chocolate alcoholic. ~ Bobbie (who works in the booth with us)

  • Don't do that or I will give you a black eye with my boobs. ~ Me to Eric who was trying to undo my bra clasp.

  • I am legally required to own this mug in the state of Florida. ~ Patron

  • Lady by day. Wench by night. ~ seen on a T-shirt

  • He's nice and juicy down there. #contextwouldonlycheapenit

  • Jump on the biggest one you see! #contextwouldonlycheapenit

Terry treated us to his homemade popcorn - cooked in butter with a little salt & pepper added. It was nomilicious and I hope he makes it for us again throughout the season.

In the WTF department, when we were unpacking at Renniesylum North [tm] I discovered that somehow the tubing from CPAP went AWOL. It was last seen in Allen and Sherri's trailer, where it still be may lurking undetected. For night one, I ran out to Lowes, bought a dishwasher hose kit, and jury-rigged it on my CPAP. I was really brought of my ingenuity right up until the time that we went to bed and turned on said CPAP. The combination of rigid hose and internal ridges turned my CPAP into a freaking whistle. There was no chance of anyone getting sleep if I attempted to use it, so I went sans CPAP and got a completely crummy night's rest. Night two brought us to a different Lowes and an attempt at another hose (and a great Lowes employee). Once again, we got to Renniesylum North [tm] and once again, I set about jury-rigging my CPAP. While everything looked great, makeshift hose #2 wasn't going to work either. By this time, I was exhausted and ready to pass out. [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir managed to make our last resort (cutting the one CPAP hose we had in half) work successfully and we both were able to sleep.

Loveseat for the living living room has been selected! Now we wait for delivery.

In other news, there is some 'happy day' thing going on today for fathers. While I had a father in the biological sense, he was never much of a presence or influence in my life. To that end, I celebrate my mother, [livejournal.com profile] njzoomom, who did all the parenting and was a pretty good influence on her two daughters.

To those *real* dads out there out there (and if you're a friend of mine, you're probably a *real* dad - I hope you had a grand day!

And because Duchess and Brodie don't have LiveJournal accounts, [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir makes a darned good dog daddy.

Dear large black snake in the garage: I am petrified of you. Really.

Dear toad who chased me while I was trying to non-nonchalantly get away from the snake: Not funny.

All that screaming? That was because of you two.

15 minutes later and my heart is beating mostly normal again. Brodie got very alarmed when he heard my screams and started barking. Both dogs had to make sure that I was okay when I came back into the house.

[livejournal.com profile] daecabhir will have to check for the mail when he gets home because I am not going outside again today.

*sigh*

And just like that, February is over.

Day two of remodeling including lots of wiring stuff. Once the wiring stuff is over, we should be able to turn the basement lights off from the top of the stairs, have an outlet in our pantry for a light, have a second outlet in the master bathroom, and have all the same access to the living room, dining room, hallway, and kitchen lights (but in different places). There was lots of spackling and the subsequent sanding, although there will be more both next week. The paint for both bathrooms, and the trim for the rest of the house has been procured (many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 1painter42 and [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress for helping us with our color palette).

This evening we had the pleasure of a visit from [livejournal.com profile] njzoomom, who stopped by to see the remodeling progress on her way back from Baltimore. [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I managed to talk her into having dinner with us at Bella J. Cucina. After dinner, the adorkable duo headed to Fredericksburg for a Home Depot run. We made the final selection on lighting for the dining room and living room. Flooring choices were a little underwhelming and there was one 'maybe' candidate for the kitchen light.

Spent a little time in the studio today getting things ready for the Downtown Culpeper Carnival - it felt so good to have my hands in clay again!

In other feel goods news, I got my 2014 VARF contract last night.
