The real last day
February 3rd, 2007 05:07 pmToday is the last day of the extended hunting season that we had here in Virginia. Sadly, I couldn't talk the ex into going hunting & I didn't want to make the drive alone.
My deer season tally is a big whooping zero. I should have had a doe & two bucks - that were worth mounting - in the freezer. Even after a few months, the buck with the lung shot is still a complete mystery. The ex has told other folks (without directly telling me) that the buck's blood trail was the biggest he has ever tracked. He feels that someone picked the buck up on us.
One bit of fun today came at the ex's suggestion ... "You should take your wolf pack out for a walk!"
Knowing it was a bit risky, I agreed & off we went with all five dogs. They did SO well - returning to our calls & whistles. The dogs ran & howled & chased each other through the woods, making us laugh a few times too. Cooper & the male got into a few fights. Poor Cooper! This is his house & he has to fight this little scrapper. Of course, the other male is only trying to 'protect' his girls. Cooper, having the upper hand of size & leverage, bested the other male every time & to both dogs' credit, neither was hurt.
The ex admitted to liking the littlest female with all the black & that the other female is cute too. The ugly female is ... well ... ugly. Probably pregnant as well. The wolf pack even got back in the pen with a minimum of fuss when we came back home. Good puppies!
