Thank you!
April 3rd, 2007 08:37 pmMuch to my pleasant surprise, I was offered the Co-op job today! I start on Monday. This position will be a real learning curve, not only for the industry but also the retail aspects. My new boss will be starting me off on the retail floor so I can learn from the ground up. This position should be a really wonderful utilization of my animal, farming & marketing backgrounds!
A few minor bummers ... I will be sharing the office with my boss. After doing some thinking, I realize that I have not shared an office with anyone in over ten years. For the first two years, I will only have ONE week of vacation. I tried to get more, but the vacation set up is non-negotiable. They really work hard to keep a level playing ground for their employees. Salary is equal to what I was 'earning' on unemployment, but not very close what I was making.
Lots of good things (or else I would not have said yes!) ... they pay 60% of health insurance & payment are spread over 11 months instead of 12, which gives you a bigger check in December for the holidays. I will enjoy a substantial discount at the Co-op. They offer a 401k & retirement plan (fully vested after 5 years). My first review is in 90 days. The biggest boon of all? Comfy clothes & shoes! Woohoo!
In puppy news:
Litter number one is just starting to open their eyes. They are SO cute & smell so yummy with their puppy breath.
Litter number two is still in the mommy's belly! haha
