1painter42 & I were able to enjoy the gem & jewelry show (well, most of it - the show is pretty big). We had lunch at a whacky BBQ place around the corner where things like Kansas City Burnt Tip BBQ & smoked meatloaf were on the menu.
We even managed a whirlwind tour of a second show at the convention center featuring gift items ... and teeth whitening chairs where for $99 you could sit out in public view with a bright blue light in your mouth & funky sunglasses while the crowd gawks at you. "Hey honey! Let's go to the gift show & get out pearly whites whiter!" No thanks.
Oh ... we even had a guy whip off his belt for us. It was in attempt to sell us a hideously overpriced & ridiculous fashion accessory for men ... but the guy sort of clung to us & I thought that we would have to bring him home. Actually, I think he would have made a cute pet. << snicker >>
In what may be a gem & jewelry show record, I came home with only 2 pairs of earrings. Quantum, the silver folks I normally buy a lot of earrings from, had very little in the way of new offerings. Some silver-mounted Chalcedony teardrops caught my eye in the wholesale area, but time running late on us, I decided to pass them by.
The holidays are coming & I am not ready. Think Santa will give me another week?

A DEAR friend of mine will be undergoing quadruple by-pass surgery on Tuesday. While he & his wife are putting on a brave face, I know they are both scared & worried on the inside.
