OH MY DAWG!
March 1st, 2008 05:41 pmIt all started with a trek into town for errands ... it has ended with a serious acquisition - not only for Brian & myself but also for my Mother.
It seems that we are the proud new owners of 6 month old pit bull puppies!
They are littermates & are both buckskin brindles with a few white highlights. Mom choose a female & we selected a male. I would tell you his name, but we haven't picked one yet (he has been called BG for "Big Guy"). Mom's pup is named Ginger & she will probably not change it.
Brian, who has always said NO to anything remotely related to a pit bull (because they eat women & children) really surprised me when he said yes to getting one.
While these dogs are registered, we opted not to pay extra money to get the papers since we will be having them both neutered when the time is right.
Their temperaments are amazingly sweet & while we have a very long road to go, i look forward to training this guy to be a good dog. The guy we got them from breeds to compete in pulling competitions, something we had never heard of. A quick Google on "pit bull pulling" will show you what it's all about. Believe it or not, these dogs can pull 6,000 pounds. You read that right - 3 tons! The record holders pull in the 8-ton range!
