My 'boss' sticks his head in my office this morning & asked me if now was a good time to do my annual review.
Eh?
Seems the GM has moved salaried employee reviews from June to February. After putting the review off until the afternoon (to give me a little time to prepare), we met & I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
Yes ... I still have a job.
The bad news (albeit one I had gotten a heads up on) is that salaried employees are not getting any raises. Nada - no cost of living, nothing. I guess the up side is that our pay was not cut. Hourly employee reviews are in June & if our bottom line has improved enough to give them raises, then salaried personnel will also get them. Not holding my breath is most likely a wise choice.
The good news is that the overly complicated bonus system my 'boss' devised came up with a pretty nice bonus for me. I exceeded the goals that I had 100% control over; reaching 9% of a potential 14% bonus. Sadly, after the government got through raping the bonus, there is a little over half left. Brian immediately suggested a rifle spending spree. ::: eyeroll :::
After questioning my 'boss' on the issue of my being named Marketing Director (or whatever) it came to light that he had completely forgotten this little tidbit from my last review. Good thing he is the 'boss'. ::: another eyeroll ::: Fortunately recent events here have made the case for yet another reason why this is important.
The last bit of good news is that he didn't make up anything negative to say just because he feels like he can't give someone a 100% good review. Nice to know he's seen the light. ::: one more eyeroll :::
All in all a good day even though I have been stressed to the limit with deadlines & work.
PS: Happy birthday, Abe.
