pandasheart: I am pony! Hear me roar! (rapidash)
No, gentle readers, I have not forgotten you ... real life has just been rolling me over. What follows is the best recollection of the last few days that is in my memory banks.

Friday, May 28
- With the pending holiday weekend, I actually left work around 3 pm-ish. Interstate 95 was a complete parking lot and I was very grateful for the back roads. Art and Kathleen somehow made very good time coming down and pulled in around 11:30 pm. After visiting with them for a bit in the motor home, we all called it a night.

Saturday, May 29 - After sleeping in and having breakfast, we headed out to the VA Ren Faire.

Kathleen looked absolutely stunning in her outfit! She wore a black pirate shirt, black tights, a maroon sash and two-toned, knee-high suede boots. To complete her outfit, she also wore my friend's pony tail (which happened to match her own long hair)! Thanks to my garb-loaning sister, [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress, I was dressed in a black velvet skirt, sexy boots, a maroon blouse and a floral corset which Kathleen laced up wonderfully (her first time ever).

We had a smashing good time at faire complete with lots of flirting, queen jokes, mug balancing (on my cleavage), hair play (Kathleen bought a hair pin from our new favorite vendor, great conversations, good hugs and lots of fun. I think my favorite part of the day was presenting Art with an ice cold bottle of water from my cleavage in front of a small crowd. hehe

After Faire, we raced home to change clothes and then headed to the Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department's fried chicken dinner. This is the second time that Art and Kathleen have been able to make the dinner; it's always fun when the local fire folks realize just how far away some firemen come to support them.

After dinner, I showed Art and Kathleen how to download music onto their Sansa Fuze mp3 players. Kathleen and I, being children of the 80's, enjoy a lot of the same music so it was easy to trade tunes back and forth.

Sunday, May 30
- After breakfast, we decided to install the trailer hitch on the Endeavor since it arrived Saturday via FedEx Ground (along with a very cute driver!). Since the frame of the Endeavor is pre-drilled, it sounded like an easy project. WRONG. After much sweating, cussing, grunting and a little blood, we were only able to install 4 of the 7 bolts. The blood happened when a ratchet slipped out of Art's hand and crashed into his lower lip. Hopefully the guy around the corner who offered to help me can finish getting the hitch installed.

Once we cleaned ourselves up, we headed to Fredericksburg for the rest of the day. Shopping stops included Gander Mountain, Harbour Freight, Big Lots and Auto Zone. We had lunch at Friendly's (decent food, awful iced tea and slow service). We saw Ironman 2 at the new theater in the Spotsylvania Towne Center which had just opened. For dinner we stopped in at Sonic (their burgers are pretty tasty). By the time we got home, it was just about bed time, so after dog duty and saying good night, it was pillow time for all of us.

Monday, May 31 - To celebrate the holiday, we had a little cookout. Mom had already brought her grill over so we would actually have something to cookout on. [livejournal.com profile] 1painter42 and her hubby came over with yummy chocolate chip cookies and watermelon. Mom and Wilma came bearing three pies and potato salad. Art manned the grill and cooked up brats, garlic sausages, hot dogs, and kielbasa. We all enjoyed a great lunch and even better company. Sadly at 1 pm, we had to kick Art and Kathleen out so that they could make their way home to NJ.

What a nice way to spend a 3-day weekend!
