I can't make this crap up
July 20th, 2010 09:55 pmThis morning I found out that not all of yesterday's completed mail was sent to the post office - partly due to the fact that postal clerk I have right now is a PITA and partly due because I am down to one truck and one driver; however this was mostly due to no one giving me a bloody heads up that we might have an issue.
As a result of this little snafu, we have one shocked project manager and an irate customer. Oh, and me pulling out my hair.
This afternoon, in order to prevent the scenario from playing out again, a co-worker and I make numerous trips to the warehouse to count skids and check with the driver throughout the afternoon. The post office is called to make sure that we will have enough time to get all of the mail out. We called the driver in early to make an extra trip. I am told by three different people that everything is fine.
With a clear conscious I have a few last minute conversations about work stuff and plan to head home ... only to learn at 5:55 pm that THREE completed jobs did not get verified nor go to the post office.
After a frantic call to the post office that involved me all but begging, I get permission to bring one of the jobs in late. Fortunately we were able to call a guy in to drive the truck or yours truly would have been making a mail delivery.
Seriously - I cannot make this stuff up!
