Duchess update
August 1st, 2011 10:36 pmThe day after the One Home Birthday Bash (July 24, 2011), we had a house full of folks (and an extra dog) for about half the day. Nothing really remarkable until Mom showed up with her two dogs. Since our puppy guest was very shy, Mom left her two dogs outside and at one point we let Duchess out to play with them.
Keep in mind that these dogs have all been together and play just fine.
For some reason - known only to the dogs - Duchess pounced on Shadow (Mom's AmStaff) and bit her on the face. Shadow returned fire and bite Duchess' leg. All of this happened in a split second, of course; Mom was able to separate the dogs and hosed them both down before bringing Duchess back in the house.
Duchess ended up with about 7-8 bite wounds mid-way up her right front leg (including one top of her paw) - all of which broke skin. Shadow had a few holes in her cheek, including one that went all the way through.
Long story short, with keeping the wounds clean and keeping a very close on them, we avoided a vet visit and Duchess seems no wore for wear (same goes for Shadow). At this writing, she still has some scabs and hair that has grow back in where I shaved around the wounds.
