My pets have rarely gone to the vet. Between raised on a farm and working with animals for many years, I am capable of treating a wide range of animal ailments and have been able to keep many pets over the years happy and healthy. This has been the year that all those missed vet visits caught up with me...
We woke up to a whining and very subdued Duchess this morning. Her belly has slightly distended and she was in obvious distress. Since bloat is nothing to dismiss (and not something that I can treat at home) - off to the vet we went. Of course, by the time we got to the vet, she had perked up a little and by the end of our visit, she had a waist again since her belly had gone down a lot. Speaking of the end of the visit - today's little episode cost us $300! No idea of what caused Duchess' distress but we are (of course) very relieved that she's okay.
In the mean time, I am still clunking around in the walking boot ... I plan on wearing it until MDRF starts. Hopefully that is enough time for the stress fracture to have healed.
The house is currently under (albeit minor) construction again; we're having the ceiling in the master bathroom repaired by the same guy who fixed the ceiling in mom's garage. In addition to replacing the damaged dry wall (due to the leaky roof) he is patching a few spots in the hallway, kitchen and living room. Of course, with this work done, we now have more things to paint.
And life goes on!
