daecabhir and I are back home after an interesting weekend of what should have included two full days of MDRF. Thanks to Hurricane Irene, we were only able to enjoy 5 hours of faire though. Of course, since the time was spent in wonderful company, we had a great time, weather be damned.
Friday the 26th -
daecabhir and I headed to the MDRF site by way of the LL Bean store where he picked up a few new shirts for works and a much-needed pair of jeans (have I mentioned how cute he is in jeans?) and I scored an awesome pair of brown closed-back clogs that were on sale. Then it was off to the MDRF site to meet up with
dreamtigress and the Music Man to drop off lots of things, including _all_ of the skirts. After a little bit of futon-foundation fixing, we traveled out to
Brian Boru for dinner. (while the food is pretty much the same as its sister restaurant,
Killarney House, the service was sorely lacking).
Saturday the 27th - Our faire day was cut short due to the impending hurricane when word came round at 3 pm that MDRF was doing something it very rarely does - close down on a scheduled faire day. Fortunately we had made a few sales so the day (business-wise) was not a complete loss. I have to admit to doing the happy dance because the first mask we sold was the giraffe design that I had talked
dreamtigress into creating. (Of course the pressure will really be on me to sell another one now!)
daecabhir and I found a few pottery pieces at Tessum that had to come home with us - two items for the master bath and a sponge holder for the kitchen sink. Once the booth was closed up, we ventured out into the driving rain and had a wonderful dinner at Quarterfields with
amywon,
renniecub, and
insegnante.
Sunday - We woke up to no power and word that MDRF was closed for the day (no faire!). After checking in with Mom and
dreamtigress to make sure that they were okay, we headed out with
insegnante,
amywon, and
renniecub to Quarterfields (again) for a delicious breakfast. Once we had made sure the
dreamtigress had a ride home from faire,
daecabhir and I headed home.
Many thanks to
insegnante and
renniecub for providing us with a 'home away from home' during MDRF!
