pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Perhaps more of a week and weekend update, but you get what you pay for, gentle reader.

This week marked the fourth pottery class out of five and I was able to get four bowls ready for the bisque firing this week as well as learn how to trim my finish pieces. My bowls from the first week were _finally_ fired for the first time and they both survived. The final class will be spent glazing everything that has been bisque fired (hopefully everything I've made). Wendy, our instructor, highly recommends that I give the hand building class at Manassas Clay a try since the teacher is excellent. It's about the same distance so I may do just that (providing that I can finally figure out their website).

This was another blessed stay-at-home-weekend for adorkable duo and we made good use of it around the country homestead. Lots of leaves were taken care of, either by blowing them into the woods or the road or simply burning them. We walked the fence line-to-be and made the final decisions on gate placement, etc. We also took stock of the cut wood that has been lying around and realized that it's all junk. Two trailer-loads have been gathered up and dumped in a safe spot in the woods but there are two more loads at least. We also cleaned the small shed out of a lot of junk that a certain ex-husband of mine left behind. It feels so wonderful to be getting things done around the yard like this.

Yesterday's big giggle came in the form of two young Mormon lads that stopped by. When I informed them that they wouldn't have much luck here since it is a Buddhist-Pagan household, I had to explain what a pagan was and then when I pointed out the prayer flags in the front yard, the guys asked if they were for the Buddhist or the pagan. After thinking for a moment, I said, well, I reckon they're for both of us.

If all goes as planned, the fencing company will be here tomorrow to begin work on installing chain link fence in the back yard. We're pretty excited because it'll afford the dogs much more exercise and give us the option of not getting wet or cold when we walk the dogs.

Knitting update - I am now on project number 6 (another hat) and then I will give something else a try. Actually I still need to figure our the purl stitch, truth be told. I have scored some great deals on yarns this week and my 'stash' is growing by leaps and bounds. The yarn winder I ordered came in and it makes preparing the yarn so much easier.
