Dear 3:30 am: I hardly know you ... why did you wake me up?
Since I can't seem to get back to sleep, I figured I would get a few things accomplished and since I've already done several of them, I then figured that I could bang out an update here.
The fencing contractors came bright and early on the morning of the 8th to finish the fencing. They hung the chain link, stretched it, attached it to the posts, top rail and guide wire and then hung all the gates. They were done around 1 pm and the fence looks great. Once I made sure that all the gates were closed, I let the dogs loose for the first time. It was awesome to watch them blast around the yard and I called
daecabhir so I could share the fun with him.
Joe brought the paperwork for the kiln (a Duncan) and will try to deliver it to me next week. A free kiln that's being delivered - can't beat that.
I guess if I needed another karmic 2x4 about playing in clay, this would be one...
Sat out again watching the drain field in the hopes of seeing some deer, but not a thing other than squirrels doing their aerial act.
Last night was the final class of pottery wheel throwing at the Marshall Community Center. While the teacher has been fine (and very encouraging) the facility has left a lot to be desired. Only the first two of my pieces have been bisque fired in five weeks. That means I will have a lot of finished pottery as well as having to make another journey out to the center to pick them up. (Apparently they have offered to let us come and finish our pieces provided that we pay for open studio time!) This alone is frustrating but what really got me (as well as the instructor) is that they scheduled basketball in the same time slot. That doesn't sound like a big deal until you understand that the basketball court is directly over the pottery studio in an old building. The noise was deafening and it sounded/felt as though we would end up with a bunch of basketballers on our heads at any moment.
Loom knitting project number 7 is complete; I made a hat for myself. It didn't turn out as planned but I was able to fix a few things and make it work. The yarn (one of the ones that
daecabhir got me for our anniversary) is ultra soft and such a pretty color. I'm looking forward to starting the next project already!
