Our whirlwind trip to Maryland was a good one. We even got out of the house and on the road on time. After asking if I could knit in the car, ([livejournal.com profile] daecabhir said yes because he's a sweetie), I packed along my current project and off we went. All was well until we got to the Alexandria area and my tummy decided that it wanted to feel very sick. After a pit stop and some ginger ale, I was mostly okay and we continued on our way.

Since we were in the neighborhood, [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir drove us past his grandparents' old home where he spent a lot of his formative years. He told me all sorts of stories and even pointed out the intersection where he wrecked his bike and broke his collarbone. A wonderful and touching trip down memory lane.

The next stop was in Bowie for the "Yard Sale of Doom" that was held by several friends. We scored a bunch of DVDs and Girl Scout cookies. It was awesome to see our friends again, including the wee Baby Z, who at one-month-old, has the most amazing head of hair.

After grabbing lunch at Ruby Tuesdays (aka Ruby Toobies) we headed into Baltimore to MICA where a friend of Gregory's had an exhibition of her black and white photography. While some of her works were a bit dark for my taste, there were some simply stunning shots. It was a real treat to take in the exhibit and I am so glad that we got to see before it was over.

From MICA, we headed over to [livejournal.com profile] dreamtigress's place for fun and games -.literally, since she was hosting a game day. Good friends and tons of laughter ensued. I sat at the table knitting for several hours while the gang played two different games, then [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I partnered up for a round Trivial Pursuit. With the exception of Paul Revere, we make great partners. LOL

After crashing on for the night, we ended up at Tamber's for brunch. [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir had pancake and eggs but I availed myself to the chicken tikka Marsala (because they make the BEST). Well-fed, we made our way to Columbia for a bit of shopping - which in the end turned out to be fruitless, but we're glad we looked just the same.

Once in Virginia, we hit Tyson's ... first to visit some more friends and pick a practically new window A/C unit from them that they no longer need. (It'll have a useful home in our second garage.) Second stop was the Container Store. All I will say is, "Wow, the adorkable duo can have some fun in that store!" The coolest find was an amazingly sexy over-the-rack for the living room so that we can hang (more) coats up.

Once the loot was stashed in the Prius, we headed over to Shamshiry which is my favorite restaurant of all time. Introducing [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir to the wonderful Persian yummy-ness was a delight. The goat cheese, while different from before, was still delicious; both of our entrees were delectable and the dessert was just right. Of course, the company was magnificent.
