13

It's always been thirteen. When I had to choose a three-numbered combination to 'help' my father buy pick-3 lottery tickets, I created the now infamous 413; taking the four from my favorite shirt at the time - a blue football jersey with the number 44 on it. The 413 combination is typically a winning for trifecta bets at the race track. A.J. Foyt (my favorite Indy car racer) drove number 14. It just made sense any way I looked at it.

It was not until I was older that I discovered that 13 is usually the number of members in a coven.

Friday the 13th is my lucky day. As a child, I often found money on Friday the 13th. Of course, the luckiest day of all is when April 13th falls on a Friday!

The classic "first lines of first post of every month of 2011" meme. I may have cheated a wee bit because the first post was a meme or my tweets (when that was working), and I wanted a bit of context. But let's just say that these were the first coherent lines of the posts.

January - [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I figure that 2011 will really be our year, not only because of all that we have planned but because we also say that we love each other "eleventy x eleventy x infinity".

February - One day until [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I are together again.

March - Seems that I have left the blog unattended for a few days. Hopefully no one has starved to death!

April - I had thought about typing up some elaborate April Fool's prank that would be witty and clever but alas, my brain cells have let me down.

May - [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I have been busy (B-U-S-Y) lately!

June - This is our last full day in Charm City.

July - Thankfully the nice weather is holding out and after my hug therapy last night, I was ready to have a good day regardless of yesterday's snafu-riddled baloney.

August - The day after the One Home Birthday Bash (July 24, 2011), we had a house full of folks (and an extra dog) for about half the day.

September - Been a few days since I have said hello to my LJ and now I must bid adieu for a few days ... daecabhir and I will heading out for MDRF in the morning forthe holiday weekend.

October - While the calendar says October, Mother Nature decided to take us directly into late November over the weekend with temperatures that dipped into the 40's at night and highs during the day in the mid-50's!

November - This week marked the fourth pottery class out of five and I was able to get four bowls ready for the bisque firing this week as well as learn how to trim my finish pieces.

December - Life has been a bit crazy for the past week or so and I've not had much motivation to post.

In the "pinch me, I must be dreaming" category: Today found me trekking to Leesburg to purchase a slab roller! This was the one item that I really did not think I would score on Craigslist, but another karmic clue-by-4 came my way yesterday. I'm not the proud owner of a 30-inch slab roller in excellent condition.

Kudos to the nice man who was selling it. Even though he came down on the price for me and had someone willing to pay full price, since I was the first person to 'claim' it, he kept his word and let me have it for the agreed upon price.

On my way home it started snowing rather unexpectedly (really, there was no snow in the forecast).

We've hopefully found an honest firewood seller. He'll be here tomorrow with the first load of two. We're getting a full cord which should see us through the winter since we only use the wood stove to knock the chill down when it gets really cold or when the power goes out.

All of the presents that needed to ship out are gone and we're still finding room for some of the presents that we received over the holiday.

[livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I are still working hard on our ninja project for January. Only ten more miles to go!
