Once again it seems I am playing catch up with my blog.
Go figure!
The first firing of the kiln was pretty much a success even though I lost two pieces during the process. One pinch pot that I had tried to patch blew up and took out a cookie-cutter star ornament with it. Everything else came out fine and seems to be truly bisque-ware. The firing took 11 hours during the day on Saturday and then cooled overnight.
We've lucked out and had two very nice (albeit very windy) days in here in VA and I have been lucky enough to take advantage of them by riding my GoldWing. Yesterday's trek was out to Manassas Clay so that I could pick up my stuff from the studio. Since I have a fair of amount of class clay leftover, I will make some projects here at the house and then take them back to Manassas to be fired, then make another trip to glaze.
Today was doctor day - at 8 am I was at the dentist for a cleaning. The hygienist didn't scold me too badly for being AWOL for 15 months and she was just as wonderfully sweet as I remembered. Just about the entire office congratulated
daecabhir and I on our marriage. When the dentist notices how happy you are, you must be happy.
After the appointment, I had just enough time to come home and swap the Endeavor for the Wing and head out to Fredericksburg for an appointment with Dr. Stadulis. She also was very gracious about the missing year in my care and was quite excited about the good news.
With errands and what-not out of the way, tomorrow will be a studio day!
