After putting my studio back in working order today (some re-arranging of equipment was involved) the Skutt is fully loaded with greenware and is ready for its first firing in Prancing Pony Studio. Unfortunately there were three loading-related casualties ... the first was a large yarn bowl that I had moved a few times but the last time I touched it was by the 'tab' of the yarn slit and it snapped right off. The next two happened because a pendant piece slipped out of my hand and right smack onto a bread basket. The pendant is no loss but the two larger pieces are very sad - representing about a $90 finished value that is gone.

The flu dregs are still with me - lots of coughing, nose blowing, and being tired, but I am feeling like I have more brain cells.

Sunday found [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir and I in Fredericksburg for most of the day running some errands and taking our time with it because of our combined mucous-factory bodies. There was a yummy lunch at Guru, tool shopping, the hunt for used cutting boards continued, some groceries were picked up, and more tool shopping.

Sunday evening, on top of a sneaky case of insomnia, my honey woke me up at 4 am because there had been an incident. We've had a raccoon raiding the bird feeder on the deck off and on all winter and it drives both dogs nuts (and us because we rather dislike getting disturbed in the middle of the night). The raccoon hasn't seemed the least bit concerned with 200 pounds of barking AmStaff on the other side of a door, nor has turning on the lights or us tapping on the glass. Last time that I caught it up there, I shoo'd it off, let it get almost to the fence, and then turned the dogs loose - figuring that would be enough of a lesson. Turned out it wasn't and last night the dogs were a bit quicker then [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir imagined and there was a scuffle. Sadly, the raccoon lost (rather quickly) and the dogs have a few scrapes. Duchess, no surprise there, got the worst of it with a few cuts on either side of her nose. Tucker got a small nick by each eye (his eyes are fine). With the raccoon disposed of and ointment on dog faces, we all went back to bed shortly after 4:30 am.

Never a dull moment around here!
