Wheeeeeeeee!
May 7th, 2013 04:52 amThings are still a bit crazy around here with VARF prep but since I am wide awake at 4-something in the morning, I might as tell you about some of what has been going on...
May 3rd found
daecabhir and I on-site at VARF for the initial set-up. We put the tent up - complete with its fancy cover - secured by super-duper screw-in anchors and rigging by industrious husband. The cover for the tent came out pretty well, if I say so myself; it's already gotten several compliments from staff, other vendors, and, most importantly, the vendor coordinator.Since we had taken apart all of the Gorm shelves going to faire, we had to put them back together again. This turned out to be a major pita - I am not sure that we will go through exercise that again.
My spot for faire is pretty perfect - nestled in the woods, close to an entrance, and right by the alpacas which is a nice draw. They also sell yarn so maybe folks will be thinking of yarn bowls. The ground is fairly level, although when we go back on the 10th for final set-up, we'll be shimming the shelves so hopefully no pottery rolls off.
Speaking of pottery, there's been no studio time with all the prep. Hopefully once faire starts, I will have at least one or two quality days with clay per week.
There's been more sewing - a P3 banner has been created, yesterday found me creating a cover for one of our coolers so that it can hide in plain sight. I need to make a cover for the job box that we'll use as an all-purpose locker and there's a pair of wrap pants for my brother-in-law, Mike, still waiting for machine time.
Since will be at VARF for Mom's birthday/Mothers day, on Sunday, we took
njzoomom and Wilma out for and early celebration dinner; Thai Culpeper was yummy as always.
I am very grateful for my wonderful support network of friends and family - especially a certain Panda.
