It seems that ten days have passed without a post of substance from me ... so here I am.
After setting up the tent at VARF, Mother Nature unleashed a week of rain on us. While not really worth the drive out to site, I still fretted over what shape the tent would be in when we went down on Friday the 10th to do the final set-up.
The tent was fine!
daecabhir's ropes all held wonderfully, the cover stayed on - it was a beautiful site!
Opening weekend was awesome. While I didn't sell as many pots as I was hoping, things went well. Gate attendance is traditionally light for opening weekend; there are several other events in the area, Mother's Day on Sunday, and it rained everywhere but at the winery on Saturday. Enough pottery sold to cover my application fee - now to work off the start up and traveling costs. We got so many compliments on our set-up and my pottery that we were smiling all day. Okay, who I am kidding, when you get the adorkable duo together - especially in a setting such as faire - they are going to be smiling anyway.
It was a special treat to have
dreamtigress and August down for opening day. We all went out for Thai in Culpeper afterwards and got to do birthday presents with my sister.
This week has gone by awfully fast, but we're in good shape for faire this weekend. Through an EQ friend, I received an order for three spoon rests (which have already been received and gotten rave reviews). Next week, I'll be sending out a mug ordered from a fellow loom knitter. There's also a yarn bowl order in the works, but delivery on it is not until September.
In knitting news,
dreamtigress got a sexy potholder for her birthday and I just got done with a ninja project for a friend.
The robin's nest in our lilac bush now has FIVE eggs in it! They are so pretty. I try my best not to disturb Mrs. Robin during the day if I can help it. The irises are starting to bloom as well - three different colors so far. And we have cicadas - this is the big 17 year 'bloom' as they call it. Duchess has taken a fancy to eating them. YUCK!
