pandasheart: Panda's Heart (pony welcome)
After the silliness that involved sending my entire headset back to AT&T because one little attachment part was defective, folks were telling me that my voice was fading in and out. This was particularly frustrating because there was nothing wrong with the actual headset that i had to send them to get the ear attachment replaced. Anyhow, after a call to AT&T to complain, the CSR said that she could hear noise on our phone line and that we would have to have Verizon come out and check the lines before AT&T would replace the headset again.

Upon calling Verizon, I learned that that our area is having trouble with the old copper lines and that we were eligible for something call Voice Link - basically cell phone technology for your home phone. This tech was developed to restore phone service to areas where the copper line is not feasible to repair and was used in recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey where the copper line was obliterated completely in some places.

The lady tech came out and much to our surprise, we actually get decent signal here at the country home so we are giving Voice Link a try. If it works, our monthly phone bill will go down and hopefully no more line noise and cross talk.
