So much for more updates!
June 28th, 2013 10:41 pmApparently there will be some more 'back-filling' posts from me at some point (assuming that I can actually recall what the heck happened) but for now, how about just some highlights of what the heck has been going on?
Today was a bit of a hectic day (ha ha) that started with having - yet another - contractor come in to look at some of the jobs that we have here at the country home that need doing. Today's handymen du jour were a father and son team (both named John) who can handle the studio walls, installing a toilet downstairs, and the master bathroom fix. They pointed out a few things that other contractors had missed, not commented on or not suggested and I am cautiously hopeful that I will get some viable numbers from them. Of course, the last contractor who was in to look at the house never even got back to me with estimates or anything and the one before him had quotes so high it wasn't funny.
After all that fun,
njzoomom, Wilma, and I headed to F'burg where we had a nice lunch at Red Lobster (Mom ate lobster!). After talking Mom into getting a pedicure (cheaper and more pleasant that the podiatrist) we went for our pampering. It was at this point that the AC/heat fan on the Endeavor starting making a positively dreadful noise. It's summer - for realsies - here in VA so no AC meant a pretty darned warm ride. After getting our toes all pretty (well, mine got a spiffy new paint job), we ran a few more errands before heading home. Replacement dog food (the one that we've feeding the dogs for quite a while now is under a recall), Italian ices (sadly not *real* Italian ice), ghost chili tofu from the Thai place, and a few things from BJs were all acquired before the warm drive home. No idea yet what exactly wrong with the SUV but hopefully we'll know soon.
Also in there somewhere was unloading the kiln. Not too many surprises and at least nothing blew up. I am still searching for a decent red so that I can glaze Kathleen's pottery that she made when she was here.
And shazam, it's past my bedtime!
