A very sad day
December 7th, 2013 11:09 pmWhile some sleep made for a slightly better me, the dehydration, weakness, and tummy still not being 100% right all combined for the doctor deciding to keep me in the hospital for another day.
daecabhir and I talked in the morning and with Tucker still not eating and looking worse, we decided that he should take him in to the vet for evaluation on his current condition since I had not been there to treat him. I tried to brace us both for sad inevitability that we would be facing a very difficult decision based on what I was hearing of Tuck's condition.
Dr. Rushing squeezed them into her schedule and
daecabhir kept me on the phone the entire time. After her exam, it was clear that Tucker's situation had grown quite grave and in case we needed any proof that things were not looking good, he vomited up a pill that I had given him on Thursday. His system was shutting down and as I much I wanted to hold my furry friend for one last time, it was not fair to make him suffer through Monday when I would be home again.
Thankfully,
njzoomom had come to vet hospital as well for love and support as made the hardest decision that any pet owner has to make.
daecabhir held his phone to Tucker's ear so that I could talk to him one last time. And then it was over - no more pain for my beautiful brindle boy.
