The ex called first thing in the morning to let me know that his boss would let him have Friday off so that he come to VA Tech with me. Wow - what a great husband I have ... who in turn has a great new boss!
After letting the GM know that the ex & I would go to VA Tech to work the career fair, I had to rush about like a banshee to get a day & half's worth of work done in half a day! The GM thanked me several times & I knew the ex's instinct about doing this was right.
I rushed home after leaving work a little early to get ready & all. I still had to pack, the ex had to get ready too & we had to get on the road. It's about a 3.5-4 hour ride to Blacksburg.
Since it was Valentine's Day, the boss told me to make sure the ex & I had a nice dinner. After passing through Charlottesville & not finding anything really suitable, we headed on down Route 81. Knowing that a certain ex gets grumpy when he gets hungry, I was glad he was snoring in the passenger seat as I drove. Following a hunch, I got off in Lexington & we happened upon the Southern Inn Restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to find a table with almost no wait & a wonderful menu to boot. The ex had oyster soup & I had cream of broccoli for starters. For dinner, the ex chose the surf & turf (fillet with fried oysters) & I tried the sausage-stuffed chicken breast. Everything was scrumptious & our waiter was so wonderful, I asked if I could take him home with us!
We rolled into Blacksburg just after 10 pm, found our hotel (the GM had made reservations in a very nice Marriott Courtyard) & we passed out!
