I've been trying to post an update for a few days now with no success ... no, I am not having technical difficulties with Live Journal. Something or other must have shorted out in my brain or something because I have zero incentive to much of anything. Just a sense of complete blah. Or something. LOL
What's been going on?
We saw Depeche Mode on the 9th. What a kick-ass show! It was a little weird because not only do I not have the new CD yet, but I had not even heard any of the new songs on the radio. In some ways that made the show more fun with each new song being a surprise. While no band sounds 100% the same live vs. recorded, DM does their songs justice in both venues.
And I was right ... the boys still have it. OMG - Dave has such amazing energy! From the first song through the final encore, he was going non-stop. And sexy - the man is just pure sexiness. Martin - decked out in a black leather kilt & mohawk hat - sings with such feeling that it blows you away every time he has lead vocals.
The show was at the Patriot Center, which was my first time there - what a nice place to see a show. Easy to get in & out of, not really a bad seat in the house & plenty of food choices if you are hungry. We were SO not hungry as we had pigged out on Thai before the show.
We went to the show with a guy I used to work with [HI GEFF] & his wife, Michelle. We'd not seen them since Valentine's Day, so it was fun to catch up with them. Geff is a hoot & never fails to make me laugh. We met at Tong Thai which is right across from the Patriot Center. It was the ex's first time with Thai & despite some spicy soup, I think he'll be game to try it again. I had some stuff that was good & which I will never recall the name for the next time I eat Thai. LOL
The ex surprised me with a concert T-shirt [35 bucks!!!] while I was using the facilities. I felt kinda bratty because they didn't have the one I wanted in my size & the one that the ex bought was too small & not my preferred pattern. After schlepping to all three merchandise stands, we realized they only had one shirt in my size. We exchanged shirts & then the irony of the saying on the shirt hit me & made me giggle...
"Playing the Angel"
HA! You got it - I can only play at being an angel because I don't stand a chance of being one for real.
