It's the day before the day before the weekend & I have woken up feeling way puny. At least my back is only sore today & not causing me the sort of grief it did yesterday. I will last as long as I can at the office, but I have a feeling I will go home to rest before 4 pm.
Cricket seems much more alert & is eating & drinking a bit for Mom. I'm so glad she is on the mend ... but I am anxious about her elbow & what sort of decision we may have to make. Also bothering me is that I really want a fenced in area for the dogs, but Brian is adamantly against having any fencing in the yard. I wouldn't mind walking the dogs on leashes, but Cricket just won't have it; she drops down like a sack of potatoes when I try.
The VP & I had quite the chat yesterday. It seems my name comes up an awful lot in the upper management circles. The President told the VP that I am the absolute best at getting my clients' projects through the shop & that he wants me to work that magic on the entire front end of the business. In a separate conversation, the head of our Data Processing department said he can no longer lead the DP team. He is a great guy, but just not a manager. His one & only suggestion for who to manage DP? Yours truly.
And finally ~ much to my amazement ~ they understand that I cannot do the level of management they want & need while handling clients. I am now tasked with coming up with my own job description & some ideas on how to make things work, including handing off my clients. I'll also be taking advantage of this opportunity to ask for more money; I've not gotten a raise, cost of living increase or even a review since I've been here.
