What next?
April 18th, 2006 11:30 amAs I am walking through the office next to mine a co-worker asks me what I think of "the news". Since I have no earthly idea of what he is talking about, I ask. He tells me that everyone is getting a pay cut of 3%. Since the guy is constantly joking around, I don't believe him & go on my way.
The next time I pass through his way, he is talking with someone else ... about this pay cut thing.
UH OH
This second co-worker says the pay cut is 5%.
UH OH
They refer to a memo they received yesterday afternoon that announced a company-wide pay cut.
Guess who didn't get the memo?
The very last person I talked before leaving the office yesterday was the VICE PRESIDENT of the company. If there was going to a rather monumental memo released, ya think she could have given me some sort of heads up???
I finally saw a copy of the memo from someone else. At the end of the day, still memo-less, I sent an email to the VP & the HR lady that read:
Ummmm, apparently you have a memo for me?
I have never seen a place where people talk all the time but fail to communicate.
