Moving day!
June 1st, 2006 03:40 pmThis morning I have moved into my new digs here at work; an office that I will be sharing with someone until he moves out to work at home doing sales full time. Of course, this may never happen because said person hates sales and dealing with clients.
The office is an improvement over the last one I have been stuck in for the last 5 months. While I do not have any windows to the outside world, I do have two large windows; one that looks into the data processing department (that is now under my management) and the second has a view of our laser room. Thankfully both windows have shades that are closed.
The office also has two doors, one opening into a hallway and the other opening into the laser room. That one stays locked most of the time. Because the office was originally designed to be occupied by the IT folks, the door that opens on the hallway is accessible only with a secure pass. My new work home also has carpet and does not sound like a huge empty cavern like the last one.
I have had to switch desks since my old one was nice and the VP thinks it should go back to my old office since clients are more apt to see the furniture there. She says when things sort out, she will make sure that I am furnished properly. My new hand-me-down desk is OK, but the drawer arrangement is backwards from the one I had been using so it will take a month of me looking in the wrong drawers to get it right.
We've set up the office so that my desk faces the other desk, but my back is to the hallway so if the door is open, folks passing by can see my screen which I do not like since I might be writing in my LJ or something. I also hate having my back to folks. It just seems rude.
By the way, if you call me at work, my new extension is 3021.
Ciao!
