We just had a wonderful visit with two dear friends from NC this weekend. Good times, good chats & a pot of the best venison chili I think I have ever made.
As seems to be the case lately when friends visit, we ended up playing with our 'arsenal'. We brought out the bows ~ Brian's custom recurve & my Parker compound. Save for an unfortunate incident involving a leather jacket (sorry J!) we had fun. The field points are still shooting very well for me, but I'm still putting off trying the broadheads again.
After the archery range fun, we moved to handguns. We shot the H&K as well as my Ruger Mark II. We moved in close & just had fun blasting the target. It took a little convincing to get one of our guests to try the Ruger, but once she did, the grin on her face told the story. One of these days Ruger will acknowledge my Mark II converts & present me with some sort of an award. LOL
We took a trip out to Luray to visit *our* potters (Mill Creek Pottery) with a stop at Rainbow Hill for lunch & goodies. (DRAT! No strawberry-rhubarb pie!) We discovered that the local bike shop was having a [drum roll please] renaissance-bike-show-open-house 'thing' going on & we just had to stop. Amidst the chrome, black leather,& tattoo-piercing trailer were several folks in full blown Renn garb, including a few booths of Renn-type wares. It made for quite the interesting event.
Just as it had dawned on me that there was a very good chance of running into someone I knew ... I did! An old friend that I have not seen for many (MANY) years was there & had just gotten his FIRST tattoo at age 60-ish. It was nice to catch up with him & he got to meet my new husband for the first time.
Believe it or not, I left the potters without purchasing anything for myself!
