While I was not sure what exactly would be taking place today when I was asked to accompany our resident equine specialist today on a field trip, I had a blast. We visited a local hunt club that feeds both horse & dog foods that CFC sells. My job, as we sorted things out, would be to take pictures & to make sure we got all the information needed to create the second in a series of ads.
We arrived early enough to walk with the hounds; first the bitches, then the dogs. This particular hunt club has foxhounds & if I had to guess keeps somewhere around 60 dogs. The hounds were great fun to watch & for the most part were very well behaved. In the dog group, there was a young tan & white male named Tango who goofed off a bit, which allowed me to get some nice shots of a solo dog.
After the dogs were put away, we met a horse by the name of Zigmond Freud who was our main subject for the visit. Zigmond will be featured in the ad, introducing him to our customers as a real horse who eats our feeds. Zigmond could have cared less that we were taking his picture & it was tough to get good head shots of him.
My nervousness about using a new camera & being put on the spot to be a photog were dashed when the equine specialist was thrilled with my shots. While we won't be doing this particular ad in-house, it is nice to play such a key roles it in.
The first litter of puppies are really showing their different personalities now. Same goes for sizes, with the two tri-color bitches pulling away fast from the rest as the two biggest puppies. Brian & I got in some quality puppy time after work. Brian laid down on the ground & let the puppies maul him. I was laughing so hard, it is a wonder that any of the pictures came out. He finally drew the line when one of the puppies starting tugging on his goatee!
The chubby boys of litter number two also got some snuggling. The tri-color's eyes are pretty much all the way open & the other lil guy's eyes are about 3/4 open now.
