pandasheart: (whistlejacket)
Between Friday & Saturday we received 3 calls on the Beagle puppies. By the time I called one of the Friday callers back mid-Saturday morning, they had already gotten a puppy. I guess they were in a hurry. The ex called back a guy who also called on Friday & made arrangements for them to come before he left to help his brother. A short while after that call, a third person called about the pups. After he called back twice, he decided to come out right away since other folks were coming & might choose *his* puppy.

The folks that the ex spoke with never showed up and gave up on them around lunch time & went to help his brother do something with a big concrete box. A little while after he left, the guy I spoke with drove in. Before he & his fiancee got out of their truck, she announced that she already knew which puppy he would want! Sure enough, that's the one he went for - the red & white female, "Little Miss Feisty". Almost as fast, the girl scooped up the littlest puppy & held him tight. It did not take them very long to decide on getting two puppies.

After a bit of chatting, I learned that the guy was injured in Afghanistan & is spending a lot of time at Walter Reed recovering from his injuries. His whole platoon came back home which is nice to know. He had already decided to name his new dog, Hero. While we watched the puppies romp around a bit, the girl decided on Bowie as a name for the little pup. I gave them a bit of a price break since they bought two puppies & I accepted a check as part of the payment ... which would make me a bit nervous afterwards.

The puppy left is the one who used to fall asleep in my arms & one that the ex likes a lot.  ::: eye roll :::

We did get a lot done this weekend ... the ex finished up the faucet job & I cleaned the kitchen. The ex mowed the lawn while waiting for the no-show puppy people & I planted hostas from Mom around the garage. The ex helped his brother both yesterday & today.

The ex's replacement wedding band came in. It looks nice with the exception of where the etching pattern meets ... there is a noticeable seam. I slipped it on my thumb & noticed it just about fits, which I think means it will be too small for him. He insisted on ordering a size 11 even though he has measured at an 11-1/2.

Sure enough, after sleeping with the ring on, he woke up with a cramped finger. Now I will have to deal with some weird ebay folks in order to try to exchange it. Seems English is not their first language. After reviewing their paperwork, it looks like if I want to exchange the ring, it will cost $25 plus shipping, but if I return the ring, it is only $18.  << sigh >>
