Vacation recap
September 17th, 2007 01:16 pmThis year's beach vacation was a bit odd in that there was sadly a LOT of drama involved. Another factor of the trip, although not really as much of an issue as we thought it would be, was that the number of people was about doubled from previous years. We would have liked to spend more time with some folks, but there was just not enough time. All that aside, we still managed to have fun.
Monday found Brian playing paintball & me getting a haircut - by a real stylist (first time since the same gal cut it last year!). Rumor has it that Brian was one of the better paintball players. He has a whopper of a bruise on his inner thigh from a hit, but all the other hit marks are gone; even the one that nailed him on the collarbone.
On Wednesday, 4 of the guys went to play golf & they let me come along so I could drive the cart. That's funner than playing sometimes, I think! Besides the thrill of getting to play golf chauffeur, I picked out the course as well. The name of the course? The Witch! Turned out to be a pretty & very challenging course. Unfortunately, the guys only got 16 holes in due to some of the above mentioned drama. One of the day's highlights was shopping in the pro shop ... everything says The Witch! It was SO hard to choose just a few things.
Thursday we headed out to a private shooting range. I only brought my Ruger Mark II to shoot, but had fun blasting many rounds through it & showing some of the other women how to shoot it. The big thrill of the day came from shooting a 9 mm machine gun! 30 rounds, fully automatic - WOW!
On Friday we finally managed to go to the planetarium that we say we are going to visit every year. The show we watched was about the Hubble & it was informative & fun. We also managed to do a little window shopping.
While we had some rain during the week, we dodged any big storms which would have put us in jeopardy of being evacuated like we were the first year.
All in all, it's really nice to be back home!
