Tuesday mumblings
March 26th, 2008 07:15 pmSince it was a nice afternoon, I took a walk with Tucker instead of hitting the treadmill. We walked out back on the neighbor's property. They have a long road that goes back to where I hunt sometimes & they have made lots of walking paths that meander though the property.
We had not gone far, when I saw a deer feeding at the edge of the road. Stopping, I watched Tucker to see what his reaction would be & braced myself for a tug on the leash. A second deer came out of the woods, with a third staying in the cover of the trees. Either Tucker didn't see them or he thought they were dogs or he just didn't care.
While Tucker moved around a bit on the leash, I stood frozen & the deer stayed put for a long while. The second deer knew something was up & stood broadside watching us before finally giving a warning & bounding back in the woods. The other two deer followed shortly behind. Tucker seemed oblivious!
I placed an order for a new crate for Tucker today since he is already outgrowing Cooper's crate. This way, Tucker will have a home that fits & Cooper can have his old one back.
