Brian went hunting this morning over at the place by Mount Pony & set up very close to where I saw deer last time. He saw a few but did not have a shot.
I took 4 hours of vacation leave to have the afternoon off so that Brian & I could go over to
1painter42's place for an evening hunt & dinner. (How awesome is that?) They've been having some deer troubles & we graciously offered to help out. hehe
Brian helped me get set up (thanks B!) ... kind of nestled into a bush. It looked like a great spot & one where deer would probably would not sneak up behind me. Brian went to the edge of the property & jacked up in his tree stand. I did not see a single deer (this after
1painter42 had seen FIVE that very morning!) but just before it got way dark, Brian came to find me ... dragging a doe behind him.
Yay! First deer of the season!
Brian got a clean shot on her & she dropped quickly. We trekked back to the house where
1painter42 was waiting for us. We drove down to get the deer & came back where dinner was ready for us. What a scrumptious meal of grilled fresh kielbasa, yummy sauerkraut, delectable pierogies & fresh salad; even dessert. Good dinner conversation is a given too!
Since it was getting late on us fast, Brian & I said our goodbyes shortly after dinner & headed home. I took care of the dogs while Brian unloaded the doe & got things ready to quarter her. Since the weather was still fairly mild, I went down to keep him company. I was settled into a chair nearby & when Brian sliced though the doe's udder we learned that she still had milk because it squirted across the garage right onto your truly!
