What an interesting day!

Mom came over so that she could drive me to the doctor today since I had to take some painkillers in advance.  Normally I can take 1/2 of a Vicodan and suffer no weirdness.  It just does the job on the pain and I can function fine.  I guess between not taking it in a while and taking a whole pill, the result was a loopy me - complete with numb lips and slight nausea.

The doctor's office was a bit backed up with the first part of my visit going off relatively on time with the second part running about 45 minutes late.  I was very glad that my doctor hooked me up with drugs beforehand!

Once we were done at the doctor's office the first order of business was lunch.  Navigating for my Mother in Central Park (not the one in NYC but the shopping place in VA) was amusing and just a bit scary.

QotD: "The navigator assumes that driver will obey all street markings ... like STOP SIGNS!"

Sorry Mom but I have tattled on you!

For lunch we hit Ruby Tuesdays except that in my vicodan-induced state of mind, I pronounced it as "Ruby Tubys".  Personally, I feel that is much catchier than their current name and I certainly hope that if they choose to change that I will receive some sort compensation.

We ended up playing musical chairs since the first place that we were seated was under a speaker and the music was a tad loud - especially for me with a exquisitely painful headache. While waiting for our waitress to come back so I could ask to have the music turned down, the smoke wafting over from the bar was stuffing up my nose.  Our waitress graciously moved us to a nice table away from the noise and smoke (even though it meant more running around for her).

Just before our food came, I noticed two guys sitting out front on a bench, at least one of them was puffing away on a cigarette.  I did not pay them much mind until I saw the other guy lift a small comatose girl up.  She was out cold but spitting up and I held my breath as I waited to see her chest move so that I knew she was breathing.  As I was getting ready to get up, the folks behind us rushed out and I overheard that one of the ladies was a nurse.

Turns out the little girl has a history of seizures.  She had been in the bar/smoking section with her family.  Our waitress said that it was obvious that the little girl was not feeling well when they got there and that she was furious that people would bring a sick child into the smoking section (and proceed to smoke around her).

It seemed like a very long time before the EMTs got there, but they eventually got the little one loaded up and took her to the hospital.  I sure hope that she is OK.

After lunch we went to target so that Mom could buy some storage thingies and then we drove to the mall so that I could get my eyeglasses tweaked at Lenscrafters.  (They went from being too tight to sliding now down.  Ugh)

Sadly by the time we got home, it was a bit late to go hunting.

Like I said ... what an interesting day!
