Yesterday's job fair was a HUGE disappointment. About half the size of the previous one in this location and several employers were no shows. Of the businesses there, about half of them were government agencies (no doubt conned into attending by the same Congressman who now 'sponsors' this job fair).
Guess what ... not many Culpeper folks are qualified to work at the FBI, FEMA, the FBI, CIA, etc. Many employers were not really hiring and apparently just there for show. One person took my resume, but of the two positions with her company that I would be qualified, one was just filled and the other frozen.
The VA Employment Commission was there though and I did get a chance to speak with them about benefit extension. They are no longer taking applications for extended benefits (sounds like it was drowning them). Instead they will notify me when my benefits are about to run out and a computer determines if I get more benefits or not. Really - that is how the lady described it to me.
Today is housecleaning day in order to get ready for the holiday. I'm jazzed to be able to able to spend Thanksgiving and my birthday with friends and family.
