Growling at a lawnmower
June 7th, 2010 09:32 pmCame home tonight after working late, took care of the dogs, wolfed down a bit of dinner and raced outside to take advantage of the cool evening to mow my lawn. Sounds like a solid plan, right?
Someone forgot to tell the lawnmower.
The same lawnmower that just cost $100 to fix.
It would run for a little bit and then cut out. This happened a few times and the last time it happened it belched some smoke just in case I was thinking of making it work more. Between cussing at the lawnmower and getting some other things done while it contemplated whatever it is lawnmowers contemplate instead of starting, I called the guy around the corner who worked on it and left him a message. He surprised me with a call back around 8:45 and came out to pick up the lawnmower. He was very apologetic and said he would have it back to me by the time I got home from work tomorrow.
Work is freaking nuts. There's no other way to put it. After a wonderful weekend, I came back to missing mail, oddly folded newsletters, overbooked machinery, a snapped belt (which was very greasy - since I got grease all over me), a co-worker with laryngitis, impromptu meetings and a few other snafus just case I was getting bored. Seems that I will be stuck in an office with 3 people until close to the end of the month to boot.
Thankfully a reprieve from the much-too-warm-for-spring weather made for a nice ride to and from the office.
