Weekend wrap-up
March 4th, 2012 09:52 pmA mixed bag of taking it easy and getting a lot accomplished this weekend.
We've gotten more stuff out of the house - the two eight-foot florescent light fixtures are gone! On Saturday,
daecabhir installed our new sexy ceiling fan while I played with clay in the studio. He's such a handy guy. Plus, he's just darned cute.
The dragonfly cookie cookie I bought for clay needs a bit of work - the area where the body and wings meet is very thin. One piece broke on Saturday during cleaning and another when I was loading the kiln.
That's right, I loaded the kiln for its first firing! With only one shelf loaded (not very efficient) I ran a test run of the kiln. Hopefully I will end up with several bisqued pieces; although I won't know until tomorrow night how everything fared.
While I was downstairs babysitting the kiln, I went through pictures and chucked out a bunch from an 1985 trip to Disney. There weren't any people in any of the shots and I've been meaning to toss them for a while now. Also pitched were two bunches of old motorcycle magazine and the transparency slides from when I was an MSF instructor. Old stuff!
We had a very nice dinner with Mom on Saturday evening at Clearwater Grill. She and I both enjoyed the prime rib special (last time I had steak was at Xmas!) and fortunately they had a vegetarian option for
daecabhir.
