pandasheart: I am pony! Hear me roar! (rapidash)
It's been very hot in Virginia for the past many days but fortunately it's cool in the country home. But that has not been the case the entire time that we've been under this heat advisory.

Friday, June 29 - A rare night when [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir got home at a decent hour (thank you traffic gods) and we had a nice relaxing time until a wicked, nasty storm rolled in around 10 pm. At 10:30 we lost power and the raging winds let us know it'd be a long night. I say long because the adorkable duo both sleep with CPAPs that require electricity. After making a pact with each other that there would be no pillow smothering on account of snoring, we headed to bed.

Saturday, June 30 - Still no power. While we were able to forage for breakfast, the house was starting to get warm by lunchtime and we headed out in search of real food and AC. Pizza at Bella J Cucina was a wonderful treat (we were looking for an excuse to try their pizza anyway). After lunch, we headed out to Fredericksburg and caught an afternoon showing of the movie, Brave. Wow - this is an awesome movie; a well-told story with very good animation. After the movie we were getting hungry so we visited Thai Town 56 for dinner before going home. Sadly, power was still out when we arrived home so we made the decision to spend the night at [livejournal.com profile] njzoomom's where we could sleep in AC and - more importantly - have our CPAPs running.

Sunday, July 1 - Coming back home to a warm house with no power was not fun but the puppies were glad to see us at least. [livejournal.com profile] daecabhir made his way to Maryland for a meeting and I stayed home hoping that power would be back before my Panda returned. He had not been gone for long when he called to tell me about road closures and miraculously the power came on when the phone rang. We spent a total of 38 hours without power; we have some friends who are still without power though and our thoughts are with them. We lucked out and did not loose much in the way of food stuffs or have much damage in the yard (just lots of tree debris and a few limbs).

No farmers' market this week due to the holiday and I can honestly say that I will not miss sitting in 100 degree heat.
