Well, it's only been a week...
November 27th, 2012 09:45 pm... but it seems longer!
The Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone along with the hustle and bustle and guests. Art and Kathleen came down on Wednesday evening in their RV and stayed through Monday morning.
1painter42 came on Friday and we were able to keep her until Sunday morning.
njzoomom, Wilma and
dreamtigress had day passes for both Thursday and Friday.
Thursday's menu was turkey - the biggest one that Martins had because the vegetarian insisted on it, unstuffed cabbage because the vegetarian needed an entree, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes (almost 5 pounds of the stuff), homemade stuffing, Mom's sweet potatoes, two kinds of cranberry sauce (because Art needs the canned kind even though we had the yummy homemade kind) and, for dessert, pumpkin pie, coconut custard pie (both regular and sugar-free) and the now infamous apple pie complete with penis and boob decorations.
The turkey was a bit of a surprise as this was the first time cooking it in the convection oven ... it was done in three hours instead of the expected five. This made cooking the other food a bit rushed - although not the rolls which sadly flopped (but still tasted great).
And since we're gluttons for punishment, we did the 'normal' thing and that was to have another Thanksgiving meal that couldn't be beat on Friday.
