Oh my. There have been so many times in the past two weeks where I said that I was going to sit down and write an LJ update and it just never happened. With my memory being what it is and an action-packed week in front of me, I will just give the highlights reel.
Let's see ... that scarf I was knitting Heather is done. The double-knit rib stitching looks great; I hope she likes it. Learning another new stitch was fun and opens up more scarf-knitting possibilities for me. After knitting something like that though, I relish a few easy projects, so I knocked out four American Girl Doll hats for the girls in Wisconsin. The hats used up some leftover/old yarn and are a variety of colors - including one that is rainbow striped.
The Augusta Expo show on the 10-11th weekend was a real disappointment since I didn't come close to covering all of the expenses. Foot traffic was promising during the first few hours but when it died off, it stayed dead. There was only one sale the entire second day. We did meet a few very nice vendors and my pottery did garner some wonderful comments (I was the only potter there). Sadly, I experienced my first stolen item (a tumbler) and we had a run-in with a jerk of a Jesus freak that I had to ask several times to leave my booth. The shining star of that weekend was my
daecabhir - he's my pottery roadie and support system and partner.
The country home now has a leaf vacuum to help it look pretty. After finding a good deal on a used one, we made the decision to wake up at 0'dark-thirty the Friday before the Augusta show and drive an hour-and-a-half one-way to fetch it. I gave it a little trial last week and it works really well. This week it will get more of a work out since the place is still mostly covered with leaves.
My pottery studio is now 74 square feet larger and it has running water! It's almost back to operating status after the construction.
This past weekend we did a Baltimore Blitz [tm] - visiting with Larry and Kathy Sands,
dreamtigress (whom we captured and brought back to VA with us), August, the wonderful folks at the Baltimore Shambhala Center and Aunt Terry. The thing on the agenda that didn't happen was a stop at Clayworks for studio supplies, but we'll be back in Maryland next month so I'll get to have a shopping spree then.
Hopefully I will get back to LJ again before another two-and-a-half weeks go by...
