No time for puny
March 27th, 2013 12:46 pmYesterday evening I realized that I was feeling puny ... specifically it felt like a baby elephant sitting on my chest. Then came the flushed cheeks, the chills, and the coughing. whee. While I would much rather be sick now than during VARF, I have a lot to get accomplished between now and opening day.
Had a delightful lunch with
njzoomom yesterday. She did really well with her dentures (upper plate) even if she doesn't think so. While I was out, I checked both the Culpeper Hospital's thrift shop and GoodWill for thick plastic cutting boards but struck out. We think that we can use them to make some dies for the extruder and want to experiment on some crappy ones before we sink a lot of money into new ones.
If you heard any squealing yesterday - that was me at the deli counter in Martin's. Turns out that Boar's Head makes a WELL DONE roast beef. I detest rare meat and have pretty much given up trying to get a roast beef sandwich because the meat is always red. Blech! I was so ecstatic at finding the no-preservatives-added WELL DONE roast beef that I promptly paid way too much for a half-pound of the stuff. With
daecabhir working late last night and me feeling not too hungry or wanting to cook, a WELL DONE roast beef sandwich on a fresh whole wheat roll was just the ticket. YUM!
The rare meat thing is a texture thing in my mouth. It feels slimy to me. Plus after spending a lot of years in veterinary medicine and the OR, if my meal looks like what I did during the day, I don't want to put it in my mouth. Just saying.
Two more baskets have been made - both with more coils than the first two. They still need to get the once over by my pottery roadie, but I think I am on the right track. While I had the extruder all full of clay, I played with a six-sided shape and made a few vases. Artsy stuff although I doubt they will be big sellers.
After having the GoldWing for sale on Craigslist for a few weeks with no interest, I finally made the leap and put it on eBay. Much to my surprise, two (admittedly low-ball) offers came in right away. I declined one from the United Arab Emirates and made a counter offer to a US-based bid. My guess is that both bidders were looking for a cheap bike to export. Another person has written with questions, and the bike has garnered well over 500 views. I'm hopeful that as the weather gets nicer, the bike will find a new home.
Speaking of eBay and Craigslist, we've been listing stuff that we're culling from our home. Three items have sold on Ebay this week, and a curio cabinet that I never used was just picked up from a Craigslist ad. Yay for re-homing unwanted stuff and getting some money back on it.
