A little back story...

Tucker was on Adequan from February to November 2013 for his bum hip joint. At first it really seemed to help but over the summer, the drug's effect seemed to fade and by October, we knew another trip to the vet was in store. We made the decision to place Tucker on Novox, a canine-safe NSAID and hoped that a low dose would not affect his liver or kidneys. Within days, there was noticeable improvement and there was much rejoicing.

And now to today...

Tuck stopped eating on Monday and even beef broth wasn't tempting him. We could tell that something wasn't quite right with him. Another thing is that we've noticed he's been drinking a lot of water and peeing a lot - even in the house a few times - over the past few weeks. So we went to see Dr. Rushing today at Blue Ridge Vet. An in-house blood panel showed that Tucker's liver values are very out of whack and a tummy palp revealed an enlarged liver.

Tomorrow I will driving down to Charlottesville with Tucker for an ultrasound in hopes that we find out a bit more about what is going on and what possible treatment options we might have to offer him.
