Brian & I took the bikes out for a ride today since Thursday's ride was a rain out. We decided to ride south, first hitting Greentop (hunting & fishing store). Brian's on a quest for fishing stuff ::: eye roll ::: while I always like to window shop.
Next stop was the new Bass Pro Shop. After a quick bite (venison dog & buffalo slider) we headed in. Lots of fishing stuff; it's nice to see a store that actually has more fishing stuff than Brian. I drooled over the pink Ugly Stiks while Brian checked out the reels. Leaving Brian to the fishing gear, I went & spent some time at the aquarium; it is so neat to see these fish up close. They had two HUGE catfish & a good sized Gar along with lots of other littler fish.
Checked out what sort of ammo they carry for my 260 Kimber (only one choice) & then spent time in the archery department. It was interesting to note that it took a very long time for any of the predominately male employees to ask me if I needed assistance, even while they were helping men nearby. Finally a young guy helped answer some questions I had about bolts for the crossbow.
During our chat, he related a funny story about a phone call he received last bow season from a hunter who have some issues with his crossbow. The hunter was whispering when he talked & the salesman realized right away the guy must be calling from his tree stand!
After leaving Bass Pro, we headed to the Caroline CFC store for a short visit. It was good to see this crew again; there among the few folks I really miss from my old job.
